Beating suspect turns himself in

Police said that Apollo Holmes, 24, wanted in connection with last week’s assault on fitness trainer Darius Miller, turned himself in Monday morning.
Atlanta police spokesman James Polite said Holmes turned himself in at the Fulton County jail about 8 a.m. Monday. A warrant charges Holmes with aggravated assault in the attack on Miller. Polite said more arrests are possible.
Miller, 41, was beaten after trying to stop a group of men from videotaping a group that included Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin’s daughters, Kai Franklin Graham and Kali Jamilla Franklin outside of the popular Atlanta nightclub Verve around 2:50 a.m. Wednesday, according to a police report.
Polite said Miller remained in critical condition in a coma Monday at Emory Crawford Long Hospital. (Source)

oh so the little **** stopped running and decided to “man up” too late for that..he better PRAY Darius comes out of this
Hey Sandra- Is the perpetrator light-skinned? Does that make him more likely to have committed the crime? We all know how people choose their parents and their skin color…

Hmmm, didn’t the attorney say that 01 Entertainment had nothing to do with it??? Well Apollo Holmes is a rapper from the group Darkside Trilogy that IS a part of 01 Entertainment and they had their images plastered all of the myspace. I can’t wait for the day Sandra tells us that young man is out of that darn coma.
Well I guess that means he has half of a conscience by doing that or either he didn’t want to make it that much harder on his dumba$$ by running!!
well.. the truth will come out… because there are numerous witnesses that were on the scene.. plus midtown blue caught the whole thing on table via a video camera on top of the building in front of the parking lot! So its just a matter of time.. when the cops have their evidence to start their conviction of everyone involved!
I am soooooooooo glad he turned himself in. I can’t stand a thug. I’m glad that he didn’t pull a gun, but did they have to beat the man half to death. Black men need to pick and choose their battles and fighting and killing EACH OTHER is not the biz.
I know a lot of yall are emotionally involved, but I’ve dealt with Apollo before, and he’s a real humble, family-oriented individual..
He wouldn’t just assault someone unless he was provoked.

Wow. I usually read your blog daily, but have missed a few days because of the holiday. You can imagine my surprise New Year’s Eve when I checked your page before going to bed and found the name of a friend. I met Darrius whan I lived in Atlanta a few years back. We had lost touch over the years but he made a lasting impression. When I read the article saying a man had turned himself in for assaulting Darrius my mouth flew open. Who would do something like this to Darrius? Sandra anyone who knew knows Darrius knows he is a great guy. Always looking out for other people. I can not count the times he looked out for me when I lived in Atlanta. He didn’t know me. We met through mutual friends but I knew when I saw him he always had my back. If I passed him on my way out to my car he would say “You all-right, let me walk you to your car.” Even if we hadn’t said two-words to each other that night, he still looked out for me. That was the type of guy he was. I can’t belive somthing so bad has happened to such a good person. Who once again, was trying to do the right thing. He was doing exactly what I would hope any man would do, come to the aid of a woman. He didn’t deserve what happened to him and I hope that ALL of the people involved pay dearly. Not only for what they did but for making it harder on real men. Making it dangerous to stand up for a womans honor. No matter who the woman is. I hope Darrius recovers soon, so he can identify each and every “BOY” involved so they can be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
Thanks to you Sandra for posting this story, and also keeping us who knew and loved Darrius informed. Even ones like me who are many states away.
