Solange Wants You to Know How Much She Loves Her Son

Beyonce‘s little sister Solange Knowles writes (yet another) glowing Myspace blog about life with her son Juelz. A mother’s love is a beautiful thing to behold, but Solange takes it a little too far sometimes. She calls him “the coolest kid ever” and writes that he “fusses if he doesn’t have a cup of Starbucks coffee with his morning paper.”

Wow, that kid is so awesome!

Of course, that first year of not sleeping and just being dedicated to him had tough parts but that’s fine. It’s been a blast for me. A lot of people have doubts, but when you have a child I think it takes a really non-emotional person not to have a blast, no matter what age. I’ve heard stories of people who were 14 that had kids and basically snapped into it and got into the groove of motherhood. I think that emotional attachment, there’s nothing out of it that you could regret.”

What the @!*%)!#%? 14 with a bank account and 14 in the hood are 2 different realities. “Little Peaches” that just had “Flee Flickas” baby when they both have to attend public school and Daddy’s/Big Sissy’s pockets don’t run deep will sing a different song. I think Solange was just expressing the blessings of motherhood. I sincerly doubt she was advocating for teen pregnancy, lol. I mean if that is how the girl feels…like it is “wonderful” then that’s how she feels. That’s just howw she perceives it. Now i do agree that her view is a bit skewered because she has more money and support than a young “ghetto” mother would have BUT it’s not her fault that she has that life…so she was born into a rich family unlike many other young mothers…stinks but it’s the way it is. Why be mad? She’s still young and learning you know?? And i’m sure she was joking about the coffee and newspaper thing people…she was just trying to give you a visual into his character. I wasn’t assuming the worst although I certainly don’t advocate teenaged parenthood regardless of the financial wealth of the parent. It takes a certain level of maturity and life experience to raise a happy, healthy, productive child. Our culture doesn’t groom our children to be parents as teenagers and as a result they are typically ill equipped to do so. The reason why I brought up Jamie Lynn is because from what I understand Solange wrote the blog to address Jamie Lynn’s situation.

Motherhood is great–wouldn’t change it for the world!
My concern is not that she needs to be an advocate (and I’m glad she’s doing well). She is painting an unrealistic picture for other young mothers and those girls who think babies are cute dolls and will love them for ever and Big Momma ends up raising. They aren’t having a blast, they are struggling their asses off. Lots of kids read these blogs and don’t have the common sense to separate her life from theirs. In OUR world, a baby at 30 ain’t always a blast. Blog about how you just dressed him and then he crapped out of the diaper and how you didn’t get any sleep because you fed him at 3am and now he wants to play, not knowing mommy has to be at work in 4 hours. Blog to me about getting sick and running out of vacation/sick time to take care of your child. Hell yeah, she’s having a blast. I’m not knocking or blaming her for her benefits, but it ain’t the real deal. Truth be told, we all have the cutest kid on the planet, Starbucks or not. Celebs have taken normal life and played it out like some fantasy soap opera for us to see. Look at Eddie and Tracy, Brittney, Jamie Lynn, etc etc—those worlds come crashing down and all in plain view of our young and very impressionalbe kids. Blog about something we can relate to, can uplift, yada yada…

I’m sure motherhood is even better when there is a fit father in the home to help raise it. A child needs both parents. Not saying the father isn’t fit, but tell the in’s and out’s of becoming a single mother at a young age. O. I forgot she don’t know as much because her family is rich!

i totally agree with most of ya’ll here. although she shouldnt have to apologize for being well off, she definitely cant paint an accurate pic of what life is like for a teenage mother, hell any mother for that matter. i was young when i had my first daughter and i can say i wasnt shopping at kitson and im not poor. i come from a well off family but being a mother is hard work. period. yes the joy of it all is amazing. i love my kids more than i do myself but being a young, single mom takes a lot out of you. as for the question as to where her baby daddy is, you can find daniel at asny local houston club for the party of the week. he is a regular on the scene, spending all that daddy knowles pay off money.

First of all the “coffee thing” I don’t think so I made a mistake & gave my 1 year old son a sip of my Frappacino & he was climbing the walls all nite!!(lol) I will never so that again. I think she was joking when she said that cause you can’t give a baby Coffee c’mon!! I think he is a cute lil boy he looks like his grandmother to me!! As far as her comments this is her first child so of course she thinks he’s the greatest I have 3 & love them to death but would give my last to get a free weekend (lol) she has it made she probably has a nanny she has money & neither of them want for anything so she can only speak for herself cause the young mothers in my neighborhood could write there own blog & I bet you it will be totaly different!!!
