The other day, while perusing my favorite magazine, I saw a full page ad for Kanji jeans which I mistook for Karl Kani jeans, since the name was so similar. Of course, it wasn’t Karl Kani’s jeans, but it made me wonder what ever happened to the entrepreneur who was savvy enough to make a generation of thugs wear his name on their butts.
As it turns out, Kani is still making the right business moves all over the globe. Kani proves his line of Hip Hop influenced urban street wear made popular by rappers in the mid 90s, was not just a flash in the pan. His stylish Kani Kouture line can be found in Saks Fifth Avenue stores stateside.

i thought he fell off the planet. i remember he came down to our college back in the 90’s. he toured our campus and met with the college newspaper staff was past arrogant and rude.

I really don’t want to dis cause he is one of our “urban” designers who did have alot of folks rocking his line as well as FUBU & the horrid Cross Colors but how long has it been since that? honestly can yall name one person in the industry who would even think twice about wearing this line or any other I named, in this day & age??Now he always has a shot at making nice business suits or maybe something casual but then you have Phat Farm, Roc a Wear & Sean John so???? But he apparently has a family judging from the picture so he got eat, do you Kani & I pray that you find a buyer!! I hope I wasn’t too negative!!!
