Maxine Daniels speaks out on the R. Kelly mess

Maxine Daniels, the 21-year-old Chicago woman currently embroiled in a controversy involving troubled singer R. Kelly, spoke out in an interview with Chicago Sun Times gossip columnist Stella Foster.
Daniels defended her stepmother Regina Daniels, Kelly’s longtime publicist who famously resigned her position last year. According to published reports, it was Regina Daniels who allegedly slipped Kelly’s cell number to her stepdaughter at a party last year.
Not so, says Maxine, “In regards to the cell phone number, Regina didn’t give me Rob’s number and she didn’t ask me not to tell my dad. Rob personally slipped me his number at another event and that is how we started talking,” Daniels told Foster.
Daniels also cleared up speculation that Kelly – whom she’s known since she was 7 – may have had inappropriate relations with her while she was underage:
“I am 21, smart and will be graduating from college this year, but I admit that I was swept up by his charming and generous ways, which I truly regret and have learned from. My brief relationship with Kelly last year ended because my parents were starting to hear rumors that we were together, and I was beginning to feel like it wasn’t a healthy situation, especially with the pain it was causing me and my family,” Maxine said. “I felt that it just wasn’t right. Also, in reference to my birthday party, which was held last spring, Regina did not push Rob to host the party. We both asked him … and he readily agreed.”
Regina Daniels also cleared up rumors that she is seeking a monetary settlement “in the six-figures” from R. Kelly:
Regina’s response to that: “It sounds good, but it NEVER happened. I never contacted R. Kelly or attempted to contact R. Kelly or anyone in his camp regarding any money or any financial settlement or severance.” (Source)

It’s interesting that she called him “Rob” when talking about the relationship, but when she spoke about the alleged money she wanted, she called him “R-Kelly”.

I soooooooo agree with you!! That’s why I think that there is more to this story. Like maybe he was sleeping with the daughter and the wife, and the daddy found out. Or, maybe he realized that he’s never really going to trial and told them he’s not paying them that hush money anymore.

@ Alana, I’m all for uplifting black women & natural beauty, but u have to admit, this picture does nothing for her. She looks very homely & 2 decades behind in hairstyles. Black women don’t have to have hair down their back to look their age. Nor do they have to have make-up spackled on to look good. Lots of Black women rock the heck out of some short hair, she just isn’t doing it with this hairstyle.
