Oscars Apologizes to Whoopi Goldberg

The Oscars finally issued an apology to Whoopi Goldberg for omitting her from it’s Oscar montage. The omission left Whoopi in tears on the set of the View the day after the Academy Awards aired.

It was “an absolute oversight,” the award show’s producer told People magazine.

“No harm was intended, and I feel very, very badly that she was left out,” Gil Cates said Tuesday. “I’m going to call her and tell her that.”Although described as a montage of hosts, the piece shown at Sunday night’s telecast on ABC was actually “supposed to be a montage of 80 exciting moments of the Academy Awards” culled from hundreds of hours of footage, says Cates. “Basically, that was not a montage about hosts.”

He noted that former host Steve Martin also wasn’t in the montage.

I saw Whoopi tear up on the View but I just don’t think it was that serious.

Whoopi is getting really sentimental in her old age. I saw the View, saw this come up, but then I remembered they ‘did’ show her pic in those past moments, but it was for when she won. Which won would she rather be nostalgic over the most: a WIN or having hosted the joint?

Tbrown, I agree. I would never expect Whoopie to be the one to cry over being “forgotten”. Man, it’s always the trash talkers who are sensitive.

Another perfect example of people being overly sensitive. Why does this remind me of the Janet Jackson grammy’s post? Get the hell over it Whoopi!! We all know you hosted the d@mn show. Do you really think somebody forgot? I mean really how many black host have the Oscar’s had?

Why does color come into it? Can accidents be made without it involving “the white man” putting “the black man” in his place? Save the racism talk for real cases of racism. I believe this was a mistake, especially since she WAS shown in other parts of the show. Not everything MUST resolve around color issues!

Okay so i’m sorry, Whoopi doesn’t need a shout out just because she’s hosted a few times. Are you serious? So much ego trippin and she has a new spot on The View and a radio show here in Vegas. GET OVER IT HEFFA!

They had a serious attention to detail problem this year. They missed Whoopi in their tribute to previous hosts and they missed the “other” dope fiend on the tribute to the deceased. They must have thrown the show together fast after the writer’s strike ended.
