Beyoncé Knowles as Etta James
Filming has begun on the set of the new biopic “Cadillac Records” starring Beyoncé Knowles as the legendary soul singer Etta James. The film tells the story of Chess Records, the Chicago record label that played a pivotal part in Rock n’ Roll history.

most of her movies tend to be related to “music”…i hope she stepped up her acting skills for this one! etta ain’t playing no games w/ her name and likeness lol…
This movie is going to just suck, I mean they couldn’t invest in a better wig. Boooo!
i like bey. i think she’s a talent in every area. but she doesn’t look a thing like etta james as ms.james stated. that wig looks so bad. that kinda blonde on bey is terribly phony (even tho i know that’s what etta wore). and as great as bey’s hair people are…could they not do better??! well maybe with the right lighting, make-up and set it will be better. anyway i’m sure even with a suck wig…she’ll kill the role! she’s a true star.

I won’t judge the movie, but I will judge the choice to play Etta. This is a slap in the face of TRUE ACTOR’s who study their craft get master’s degrees and really put forth their heart and soul into roles. She has NOT really played a decent role in the few movies she’s been in and this is just to get her fans to see the movie and NOT TO HONOR the Etta James legacy.

I see this girl just won’t sit her ass down somewhere!!!Maybe if she did she could take a look at her movie roles and she she sucks as an actress!!! Her speaking skills are terrible,she talks like her breath stank or something. Now the music side of her she’s off the chain. I know she’s trying to work on getting that Diana Ross role but I don’t think the boss will allow that.

And the wig is so ugly. Beyonce needs to go on and sit down. You have all these up and coming black actresses that could blow Beyonce out of the water! I mean, even if it was just a movie on Etta James with an up and coming actress and they promoted her, I believe people would support it. I know I would. I love Etta James. I just have a feeling this is going to be a flop. As I said before, Etta is a true legacy. Beyonce has no business playing that part. This is how I truly feel. I’m not hatin either… I’m just saying.
Maybe she was sleeping in the wig and it got jacked up. The stylist will fix it and all of you nay-sayers will eat your words when Bey brings home the 2009 Oscar for best acress. Birds everywhere will sing in unison, children on playgrounds will joyfully join in….

I GUESS BEYONCE NOT GONNA SLOW DOWN TIL SHE GETS THAT OSCAR HUH, I THINK HER PEOPLE SHOULD INFORM HER THAT IF YOU WANT TO BE RECOGNIZED FOR YOUR ACTING YOU HAVE TO STEP OUT THE BOX AND PICK MORE VERSATILE ROLES, BEYONCE STAYING IN HER ZONE WITH THE MUSIC ROLES WONT EXACTLY WOO FOLKS ON HER AND SHE WILL BE TYPECAST AS JUST THAT. BUT I WILL CHECK IT OUT CAUSE IM INTERESTED IN THE ETTA JAMES STORY ONLY!
Oh well that’s what Etta James’ hair looked like. I’m sure they’ll tweak it on the set or in editing. It’s really not that serious.
And please give me a break about the singers who act bit.
What about when actors sing in movies or stage plays ?

A lot of the so-called best/greatest actors are not even good.
They just slept with the “right” people to get ahead.
People can’t help if they’re multi-talented.
I don’t think Beyonce is a good actress but she can sing and she sells tickets/cds and is obviously who the producers or whomever wanted.
I’ve only heard about B and Alicia. Who else is in it? I’m sure they have some real actors to carrie the movie.

Actually she is playing a role that spans over decades before any of us was thought about. It does fit the era.
I hope that this movie is a Blockbuster. Dreamgirls was actually a good movie. Everyone carried their own weight!!!

I don’t know what kind of glamourous wigs y’all THOUGHT you saw Etta James wearing. She wore the same tacky ish. We ARE talking about a heroin addict here. And, I still don’t understand how you can predict the outcome of a movie just by ONE picture of ONE actress walking out of her trailer. People hate Beyonce on a new level.

I’m sure Beyonce isn’t the star of this movie being that its not about the story of Etta’s life.Let the child breathe.

I don’t know how this is going to play out.But her as Etta James never crossed my mind.I know there were more actresses that were playing for that part.Oh well.People will base their opinion off the movie even if it’s production.That is nothing new.Critics are going to have a day with this because they thought Beyonce’ was the breakout in Dreamgirls.
I think they should at least thought considering a breakout actress to play Etta or something.And the movie is really not about Etta, it’s about Chess Records.I can see Latifah playing the part because she chose rolls different than her persona in music and now she is a respected actress.If they really wanted to portray a person such as Etta, might as well tell Beyonce’ to gain some weight!Nobody remembers Etta not being that size till she got old.

Well if Etta had a drug problem, maybe they were doing a scene where Etta was high and looking to’ up hair all messed up and such
