Leaked: Rocko - Self Made
This week has been proclaimed Rocko Da Don week in the ATL by honorary mayor JD. Tonight, Rocko signs autographs at a couple of retail outlets. Then Rocko’s debut album, “Self Made” on Island Def Jam goes on sale tomorrow at a retail store near you.
Also tomorrow, Rocko’s big album release party pops off at Club E.S.S.O. with celebrity guests Monica, Rocko’s fiancee who is featured on the album, Ciara, Young Dro, Shawty Lo, Juelz, and more.
It’s all hosted by Island Urban Music president Jermaine Dupri who produced tracks on the album. The party is already shaping up to be the the most talked about event of the year.
Many fans don’t realize Rocko is a label owner himself. That puts him in a unique position to deal with record label execs from an executive’s standpoint. Word is when an art department staffer decided to go with album artwork that Rocko didn’t approve of, Rocko flew to NY to set the staffer straight. That’s gangsta!

Rocko is a joke. To even think that JD proclaimed Rocko Da Don week in the ATL is pretty comical in my eyes. If this particular event is shaping up to be the event of the year, what does that say for other events that have already happened or those to come? Sandra obviously has a great deal of respect for his artistry and I can respect that, but I believe a lot of her comments are far fetched. Sandra takes delight in gloating when other artists don’t sell too well when their product is released. I’m curious to see if she will post Rocko’s numbers next week and the week after.
Love Monica. Don’t get Rocko at all. I hate that song where his English is so throwed that I can’t even understand half the song and I live in Texas where we have to disect conversations everyday. I don’t about call this week “Rocko Da Don Week”. We all know the man has an album to promote but the radio has been advertising the hell out of his appearance at ESSOS. This weekend, I purchase a mixCD that Rocko has with DJ Scream…it’s a pretty good CD to ride too, and the tracks off of “Self-Made” seems to be on this mixCD, but with more tracks, so it seems like I’m not missing out on much with self made. So if you like songs that carries a more street motivation message, alot of bass and crunk muzik, I say buy it, if not, don’t waste yo time. And I prefer the mix over “Self-Made”…
I have truly been entertained reading these comments. I have been laughing myself to death….funny stuff.
Since I love Monica and her craft so much, I am not going to disrespect her kids’ father.

I’m not a Rocko fan, but I have no reason to dislike him either. I really feel bad for him that his whole album was leaked on the internet. I’m shocked to see Sandra broadcasting it. This is going to make his sales even lower than they were already going to be.
I think Rocko is talented but I agree, he sounds to much like Jeezy. He needs to switch his style up, I wish him luck because he is trying.

I havent listened to this(no speakers at work) but I already know I don’t need to. The VAST majority of hip hop currently is WACK and then we have the carbon copys of wack. Hopefully the weak sales of most music these days will force the powers to let the artist move in a more creative direction.
