I lived there for 10 years, and it seemed that every year it got progressively worse and worse. While at CAU, I had so many DL friends at Morehouse it really opened my eyes…but, not until I started going to some of the gay clubs with them like Bulldogs, Backstreet, and some of their private parties did I realize that it was an epidemic. Because usually (though no lesbian will admit it) everyone wants a man. Men are the “givers” — we are the “receivers”. So, thinking along those lines, it just seems likely that once a man “goes gay” part of his manhood evaporates. He becomes a receiver in his psyche… At heart, we, women, don’t want a receiver.
Then, a lot of women just experiment or do it for their man, or they go through gay phases. But for a man to go down that route, he must really want some D. He must want a man from his very soul. There are many articles that study how & why the “10%” number began being thrown around - but it may not actually be true. There are some studies that suggest that the number could be anywhere between 2% and 10%, so that was not meant to be a hard fact.
The larger point I may have been trying to make was that the United States, and in my opinion black people, are still so homophobic that people are getting emotionally (and in some cases physically) hurt by dishonesty, deception, breaches of trust, or by ridicule from their peers.
From my observation in my time here on this earth, there seem to be heterosexual and homosexual people in ALL walks of life, from politics, to sports and entertainment, including the music business. To shun or ridicule anyone because of their sexual orientation is small-minded and wrong - but hopefully in the future, we can move beyond that.
