New Music: Rocko Da Don ft. Monica – Thugs Need Love Too

The new Bonnie & Clyde – Rocko Da Don & his beautiful fiancee Monica, have a track on his new album “Self Made” called “Thugs Need Love Too”.
Rocko’s Southern drawl on this track is reminiscent of LL Cool J‘s classic thug love hit “I Need Love”.
As you know, Rocko’s album drops next Tuesday (Mar. 18) so make sure you cop that! And be on the lookout for details on Rocko’s Atlanta Album Release party with guests including Monica, Jeezy, Jermaine Dupri and others.

Can’t listen to it at work but I don’t have to cause IMA DO ME get’s on my LAST NERVE. LOL. Rocko sounds like a poor man’s T.I. I’m sure T.I. is layed up in his house laughing his behind off. I live Monica, her voice is off the chain. But Monica, your man is so unoriginal. Just like most of the garbage on the radio these days.

Monica sounds good as normal but I dont see how you can compare this to LL “I need Love” now that was the jam and this is nothing near it. The song is ok and I like Rocko he is ok I like the “Tomorrow” song but we need a lil something different and original…

I asked Sandra this last year and she said she knew nothing about it! It was a little girl as a matter of fact, they were on a BET special. I don’t hear about or see her anymore.

I just finished watching the last episode of the Wire. It was off the hook. I will not say anymore becasue I know that some of you do not have On Demand. 60 episodes of the Wire, now set to rest, I will miss you!
The song isn’t bad, but it’s not single quality. I’m a little disappointed because I think that Monica is great, but she keeps getting the wrong songs!!! I want to hear her do a song like MJB-Just Fine, some Faith Evans like ballads-Soon As I get home, actually I would love for her to do a duet with Faith, do a another duet with Brandy-after all they both put it down back in the day! Some Angel of Mine type songs, sometimes it’s good to work with different writers and producers, but other times it’s best to stick to the same successful formula.
What made Monica was the Before You Walk Out My Life, Why I love you so much, So Gone-we need that Monica. So many people can be so hateful on these boards, but other times you know how we do-we speak the truth and sometimes it’s not fluffy. Monica wants these comments on to hear the good, bad, and ugly. This is your career Monica, keep pushing for some hits not songs that are just OK, we’re not only counting on you, we’re waiting!!!
“So Gone” was my jam! I might have to hunt that CD down and give it another listen.
monica is a vocal beast and i can hear the fire and passion that she brought with MISS THANG and AFTER THE STORM…the voice is there as always im waiting on that killer ballad that i know monica can and will knock out the park…hopefully shell get the recognition with this new album that is way overdue…
How can you put someone on a track that you try so hard to imitate? I almost missed poor Jeezy for thinking it was his sound a like. I wish Rocko the best but not an album I’m looking for.

I think the song will do fine. It has a smooth kind of flow to it, so it just might work. Like it or not, people are feeling Rocko, so we’re gonna see more of him. Now, on to Miss Thang! I wish she would come out with something, as well. I love the old Monica, not the “thug girl” Monica; it’s just not her. She has always been a great singer and so down to earth. However, she needs to get with some super producers like Neyo, R. Kelly (yes, I said it!), Timberland-for one or two dance tracks and of course, Jermaine Dupri-who can give her a clear hit! People slept on “Why Her?” from her last cd, but it was tight! Can’t wait for her cd to drop. I am wishing great things for Rocko. Sorry, I just have pretty much outgrown rap, but I can listen to it here and there-just not in rotation and in my car.
I didn’t hate the song to the point of needing to turn it off. That’s the problem with Rocko. He’s mediocre. I’m not a rap fan, but I tend to like the popular catchy hook hits that everyone else likes and I have not liked anything from him so far. I don’t know what producers he’s working with, but it seems like they should have come up with a catchy hit for him by now. Making music strictly for the Atlanta audience is not going to take him to that next level. Monica sounded great because she has a great voice, but the hook itself did nothing for me. It’s too bad too, because with Jeezy and Monica on the track the producers should have dug deep to make sure they had a certifed hit.

I love “So Gone” too. I really think people slept on that CD. Monica changed it up on that song and kinda gave girl rappers a run for their money.

I love Monica, but I aslo agree that she needs to work with some new producers. I think that the industry is sick of beyonce and keyshia and we need a new sound and Monica can bring that to the game.
