The Best Damn Reality Show On TV

I know I said I was done with reality TV shows for good. But that was before I got turned on to the Real Housewives of New York by my friend Jamahl King of S.T.E.P.S. Events Planning Firm. Now I’m checking TV schedules to see when it’s coming on again, lol.
As you know, the show documents the lives of 5 fabulously wealthy NYC housewives. My favorite cast members are Countess LuAnn and Ramona because they are two strong women who are about their paper and maintaining their independent lifestyles. Kids and hubby are important, but so is getting your hair and nails done and going out for a drink with your girls so you don’t regret missing out on life while your kids are young.
The other women on the show are either too neurotic or too dependent on alcohol, men or childhood baggage for me to care about them. Especially Jill, who I really want to like, but her obsession with that mutt of hers is unsettling. Jill’s disgusting habit of letting that cur lick the inside of her nose makes me wonder where else she lets him lick.

OOH I love this show too! New episodes air on Tuesdays at 10:00PM on Bravo! but Bravo! is notorious for airing full season repeats during the week, so you’ll be able to catch up before the season finale.
FYI Bethanny was on another reality show. She was on that Martha Stewart Apprentice show. She was annoying on that show and she’s annoying on this show. She so clearly has daddy issues.
I can’t wait until Real Housewives of Altanta comes on.
I like this season but I think the last season (Orange County) was more interesting. But after watching both seasons, you can tell that there is a distinct difference between California and New York housewives.

I can’t stand Bethany, her boyfriend Jason got fired from his job because of the show.
Atlanta should be hot! I pray the BLACK children on the show behave well and represent well.
i used to watch the real house wives of orange county and LOVED it. the new york one i’ve only seen twice…it’s okay. and the countess is cool, she’s classy, respectful, smart, and not full of drama. but i KNEW an Atlanta series was coming soon. i’m happy for the confirmation. aaaaaaah i’m so excited!!!

The only housewife on the NY spin-off that is cool is the Countess, IMO. I think the NY wives are more pompous, but then again, people with the mentality that “my money makes me” have always gotten on my nerves and the NY wives take that to an excess. I mean, who teaches their
kids Latin at the age of 5 or whatever Alex did? lol
The ATL wives should be interesting. Can’t wait to see the stuck-up “money and class are all that matters” attitudes of the sisters. Hopefully, they won’t be as shallow. lol
I’m sorry - these shows are like watching what the kids on My Super Sweet 16 grow up to be. I find them all really sad.
i have never watched the show before, but i am now interested in seeing the atlanta one. may tune in to the new york one. what time and day does this come on ?

I LOVE THIS SHOW ALSO, BUT THE REAL SKINNY ONE (I THINK HER NAME IS ALEX) I THINK HER AND HER HUSBAND ARE FRONTERS, FIRST OF ALL THEY SPEN WAAAY TO MUCH TIME TOGETHER I MEAN SHE CAN’T DO NOTHING WITHOUT HIM. I LOVE THE ORANGE COUNTY WIVES, BECAUSE THEY HAD A LOT OF MONEY AND LIVED IN BIG HOUSES, THESE BROADS LIVE IN THESE LITTLE A** APTS IN THE CITY AND THEIR HOME DECOR IS HORRIBLE!!
I like the Real Housewives of Orange County much better!

In NY everyone lives in somewhat small dwellings. What suprises me is that Alex’s husband (I can’t remeber his name) is a hotel manager that can jet set around the globe. I must not be clear on what it is exactly that he does. Bethanny is too clingy. She needs to stop getting into relationships and trying to force men to marry her. She’s not very assertive and definitely has daddy issues. Ramona seems clueless, but I love the fact that she is teaching her daughter to be independent and make her own money. The Countess is beautiful, but a little contrived. I hated that she actually bought break dancing lessons for her son. It’s almost like she was mocking the culture. But her kids go to boarding schools and camps in Sweden!! Must be nice. Jill is my girl and reminds me most of myself. She is strong and knows what she wants. She throws money around like water but I don’t like the dynamic between her husband and her daughter. It kind of creeps me out.
Alex and her husband are depressing. They are so caught up in image that they seem to have no substance. Her husband is strange, he’s into fashion just a little too much, it makes me think he may have a dude hidden away somewhere.

If you watch the show, Alex is OBSESSED with ensuring her kids have the proper education and while there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with this, she is very extreme with it, to the point where it’s almost comical. Spanish - yes. French, hell, I’ll even take Russian. But Latin? It’s a dead language.
I guess my point is, she is obsessed with being the perfect parent with perfect kids and it ain’t gonna happen. She tries very hard to fit into such a superficial world and trying to get your kids into a pre-school that costs hundreds of thousands of dollars or whatever a year is extreme to me. I mean, he’s 5 - can’t he just go out and play or something instead of translating menus in Latin?
I’ve watched Orange County but not really New York.
I will definately be watching Deion Sanders Reality Show on Oxygen.
I loved the Eddie George and Taj show…I hope they bring it back!!!
This show doesn’t seem very real to me! I know a few wealthy NY socialites that would have set this show off! I happened to catch the first episode where they introduced all the women and it just seemed off to me that…

Countess, my fav, she’s cool!!
and the other ?? it seems like she wants her daughter and husband to date or something. One episode she wanted her to model new clothes she had just bought for him….it was kinda freaky!!!
This show is scripted…just like all the other “reality” shows.
Atlanta, interesting. The one on the right looks a little manly, are they putting a gay family on the Atlanta one or something?

I used to live in NY and those little a** apartments are going for six figures there!
Latin is a “dead” language but it’s the basis of all romance language, so there is plenty value in studying Latin. 5 is not too young to start exposing children to studying hard, you can tell she is trying to raise a future CEO/rich child and this is what she believes it takes.
The housewives from Atlanta look like men.
I have a BA in English, so I am very well aware of the importance of the Latin language. My first post was more to the fact that Alex is damn near neurotic when it comes to her perfect kids and her perfect husband and her wanna-be perfect socialite lifestyle in NY.
And nothing wrong with wanting to raise a potential CEO or whatever, but sorry - you don’t run across a lot of 5-year-olds who study Latin. He’d be much better off learning Spanish or French or any other current spoken language- trust me.
That being said - I’m done!
I love the show too! Can’t really stand Ramona, she comes off real fake & racist, knowing she probably had nothing before she got married, she looks real plastic. Poor Alex, just tries a little to hard….Bethenny, I ride the fence with her, overall the show is good.
