What took Beyonce and Jay Z so long to sign the marriage license?

According to People magazine, Beyonce and Jay Z finally got over their last minute jitters and signed their marriage license this past Friday - before it became null and void.
What took them so long to sign? Weren’t they were married on the 4th? Actually, I heard that Beyonce signed the document the day of the wedding, but it took some prompting in the form of a shotgun barrel held to his neck by Matthew Knowles to get Jay to sign.
Scarsdale Town Clerk Donna Conkling tells PEOPLE the license – which lists the wedding date as April 4 – was received on Friday afternoon. The couple applied for the license just three days before the ceremony.
Whichever way you look at it, it’s a bad omen.

Damn, it’s crazy how you can hate somebody so much and still always post a story about them every moment you get. [IF] Beyonce read blogs, she probably just sits back and smiles about the hate/jealousy she receives, especially from this blog. You remember when you were young and the little boy in school always teased you because he had a crush on you, but didn’t know how to come to you?! Hmmmmm…..makes me wonder……..
Who cares? They’re married and countless bitter women aren’t.
So what if her daddy held a “shotgun”? If the n-gga didn’t want to marry her, a shotgun wouldn’t have made a difference. Look at Brandy. LOL (I’ll never forget the lie Brandy!) I know some women who have held a baby, a pitchfork, a shotgun, a bible, and a bat upside a man’s head to no avail.
If Matthew did make that grown azz man marry Beyonce (yeah right), then I’m just glad she has a dad who cares. Plenty women WISH they had a daddy who was around and cared.

I feel Jay married Beyonce because he wanted to. You cant make a man marry you. The days of daddy holding a shotgun to a mans head to take his daughter down the aisle doesnt work anymore (well it might still work in West Virginia or Utah) but we are talking about some black people in NYC…lol
the license was not set to expire-the license was good for 60 days-it was just obtained on april 1 or 2nd-wow at the stretch to find something negative to say

Come on Sandra…he’s busy, on tour, but really and truly what difference does it make anyway? I mean they had 60 days and it took them what…14 days. Wow, that is a really bad omen.
Jay has always said that he wanted to marry Bey. Now Jay may not be Matthew’s choice for Bey, but I am not buying the shotgun to the head thing. They seem to do things the way they want to. I am happy for them and wish them a life time of happiness!

I don’t believe it. I thought you are suppose to sign at the ceremony not after after after the fact. I am sure they love each other very much and Jay has been smiling every since. so I don’t believe people or nobody else. If I didn’t hear it from the horses mouth then it does not mean anything.

That’s a lie. Beyonce and Jay-Z both been signed the marriage license back on the 4th. The person who performed the ceremony turned it in. Read this.
According to the Town Clerk, the license arrived in the mail, and was fully executed and solemnized on April 4. The person that actually performed the ceremony sent in the license, not BeJay.
Because it was received later than five days after the wedding, the officiant could be charged with a misdemeanor. The clerk says the person will probably skate.
Jay is a grown man and can’t nobody make him do anything. He proposed and married her obviously because he loves her. SMH @ Sandra. Oh and whoever brought up the prenup thing don’t act like Beyonce is broke. She may not have as much as him but she the richest woman in rnb so she don’t need his money at all. I’m just happy to see a beautiful successful black couple being married and happy in spite of the naysayers.

1.You have 60 days to give married once a license is filled.
2. After the wedding ceremony performed by a license clergy, the bride and groom signs the license in the presence of witnesses and the clergy.
3. The clergy who performed the wedding must sign the certificate.
4. The clergy must return the signed license to city hall.

I got married at the justice of the peace and we(hubby and me) did sign the papers but it was up to us to return the papers to be signed by the justice of the peace and for him to foward it on. In return we received the official license via U S mail. Now the question is “Am I married after all this time or still living in sin”? lol.

I think their taking forever to file their license is just part of this game they are playing that doesn’t allow them to even wear their wedding rings. I am happy for them and wish them many blessings, but I don’t need to hear about this anymore. If they want people to stay out of their business that badly I think the media should stop talking about them completely. I’ll be happy to do my part in leaving them alone.

How are they playing games just because they are private? Haven’t they been private the whole 6 years they were dating? So why would they change just because they got married? And how do people know they even have wedding rings? Don’t they have tats. Can’t get more permanent than that. I think people are just not used to celebrity couples being this private so they automatically assume B and J are up to something. Just let them do things their way even if you don’t agree with it. They have always kept their careers and personal lives seperate. Nothing has changed, they still private as usual, so I don’t see what some people are talking about.

Just a quick lesson on marriage licenses: Bee and Jay did not wait until forever to file and/or sign their license. A couple doesn’t walk out of the courthouse in the first place w/out signing the license and taking an oath. That’s the whole point of getting the license to make the marriage ceremony legit. Any married person will tell you this. The officiant waited until forever to file the license. Once he performs the ceremony, it is his/her job to provide the final signature and send the license back to the courthouse….So, we can kill the “Jay-Z was trying to hold out” rumor.
I find them quite boring.I guess they want people to keep talking about their boring lives.Still love their music though.
