LaLa: ‘I fully support my fiance’

LaLa Vasquez, former MTV veejay and current baby mama of NBA star Carmelo Anthony, reached out to People magazine to set the record straight on Internet rumors that she refused to pick her man up after he was busted for drunk driving.
“I want to make sure the public understands that I fully support my fiancé, Carmelo Anthony, and stand by him through this ordeal,” Vazquez said in a statement to PEOPLE on Tuesday. “I will always have his back and never refused to pick him up from the police station. In fact, they offered to bring him to me.”
Then a sober Melo said: “LaLa continues to be a rock in my life, she’s always been there for me through thick and thin.”
For those of who who are reading this on Wednesday, the statement was posted on People.com last night around 8 PM. That was quick wasn’t it? 
I mean ole girl didn’t waste any time disputing the rumors before they got out of hand, lol.
Unfortunately for LaLa (and Melo), the word is already out. I guess the Denver police were lying too?
But wait, isn’t People magazine the same media outlet that twisted the truth just last week about another urban celebrity? Hmmm…

I think People Mag getd more credit for their credibility than they deserve. I just happened to be outside Beyonce and Jay-z’s wedding and they hounded me for days trying to get a story. I could have made anything up and they would have put it on their site.

So how does she explain that Carmelo was taken to a hotel and not to their shared home???
@ Irene where did you get the part that he was taken to a hotel? Wait … this is getting old already. The cat is out of the bag.
And the problem is? The police took him to a hotel. Not everyone has a paid personal/nanny in the house to pick up a person in jail. Their disappointment is for them to deal with. He was not caught with a tranny or a ho/prostitute. I will give a 23 year old a pass to learn.
I hope he does not let her down.

And the problem is that if you live in Denver, why were you sleeping in a hotel room to begin with? Apparently, Carmelo was taken to “his Denver hotel room at the Ritz Carlton.”
You can tell that her words are suggesting a sense of duty, more than affection… She supports him and has got his back. Kind of in a “after all, he is my baby daddy” kind of way. More drama to unfold… stay tuned
Maybe him staying out late is a regualr thing so he has the room set up … I was listening to the radio this morning and a great point was made. He is young so — this can be a one off for now. I guess.
which means i will continue to be a door mat and he can continue to hang out at all hours of the night drunk with other woman etc…and i’ll still stick by him…crazy!

Not sure what really happen but something is missing from the story.
I feel bad for La La because I know what it feels like to be so well taken care of that you actually settle for your man staying out to all hours of the morning night after night. I mean you fight about it (like not picking him up from the police station), but you don’t leave. It hurts and the bills being paid doesn’t make it feel any better. To make matters worse she has been forced to stand up for him to the press when she knows what he’s up to. Not to worry, she’ll get tired of it eventually and her piece of mind will be more important to her than the lifestyle Carmello’s money provides.

@brwnsugga4you…. I concur a man will only do what you allow him too. Money is not everything I would prefer that my husband continue to respect me because this is something you can’t buy and it comes from the heart. If you don’t stand for something you will fall for anything.
