Also voting for Barack I don’t expect him to make changes just for me as a black person. Let’s face it if he wins he’s got a lot of cleaning up to do behind Bush and more than likely it won’t happen in 4 years. I only expect change. Between gas prices/grocery prices/education/health care any change at this point would be wonderful.

I feel you on that. There is going to be a whole hellof cleaning up to do in the White House. I can't believe that my grocery bill for 2 ppl is still the same price as it was when there were 5 ppl in the household.

@ missamerica: No I think Clinton shouldn't speak in the context that he does. He is not running for President so really his views/opinions aren't more important than his wifes. When he speaks it's as though he's forgotten who's campaign it is.

I think there is a line and he's crossed it. Michelle offers her opinion as a spouse and supporter not as a running mate unlike Bill.

@Miamore73
Bill Clinton was President for 8 years, don't you think if anyone should speak on behalf of their spouse that the person you put the mic in front of?

@ PAHairston
I was referring to his grandmother, not his mother. Barack mentioned in his Philadelphia speech on Race, that his grandmother would say things about Black men that made him cringe.

@ Anna I did read those comments. I don't know how true that statement was about Hillary consulting with Rev. Wright after Monica Lewinsky. But throughout the history of the White House, prominent religious leaders are always invited to meet/dine there, most times with the President.

This is why I have a problem with the Obamas.

Billy Graham said a lot of things that could come off as offensive or that the majority would not agree. He was spiritual advisor to about 12 or so Presidents.

So why must Obama denounce this man, disown this man just so he can have a chance of being President? If that's not n**ger treatment I don't know what it is.

Barack called Rev. Wright's statements ridiculous. What was so ridiculous? Why is this Rev. being betrayed as bitter and out of touch by so many of his own people?

Why are we so amped to have an African-American in the White House? Especially one that will disown the Black Community if it poses a threat to his campaign and one who takes our votes for granted.

Barack Obama is a politician, its time we treat him as such.

I'm not saying don't vote for him or support him, but a lot of people are expecting him to really make a difference and move mountains.

There is really no difference between Obama, Clinton, or McCain ~ They are all ready and willing to do whatever it takes to get your vote.

One person on this board mentions that Obama's mother was a racist. Tell me, how in the hell can a white woman, or any woman for that matter, have and RAISE a child by a black man who develops into such a fine, intelligent, good-hearted man as Obama, and be racist? (Hell, if that's the case, more of these single, black women should marry racist whites 'cause MANY of them have sure failed their male children.) It just doesn't add up. If she was so racist, why didn't she put Obama up for adoption when her black man left her? And why does Obama still speak so highly of his mother?

Most white Americans don't really know what racism is. Racism is power, an institution, a system. Black Americans can be prejudiced against others but not racist. Racism in AMERICA is white supremacy, clear and simple. (If you're white, you're right.) As always, I leave you in peace.

I agree with the poster that stated that the Reverend was out for personal gain. When this information first broke he maybe should have defended himself once. But, damn he's all over the damn tv now. I didn't feel like the media pointing his comments out were an attack on the "Black Church". I felt like it was an attack on his black church and what he speaks about within his church.

He needs to take a back seat, sit in it and zip it.

I also think Michelle should speak about her man. I don't think she's giving the air of trying to run for VP. I think she's just speaking her opinion with regards to her husband and his campaign. Now Bill on the other hand definately needs to sit down and shut it. He's made so many hateful and unuseful comments in the last 6 months it's just ridiculous. Most people voting for Hillary are doing so as a way to get Bill back in the White House. Well Bill isn't running for President his wife is. The more Bill speaks publicly the more he's shoving his foot down his throat in my opinion and making the country see what an ass he really can be.

I believe it is definately time for a change. We go from Bush to Clinton back to Bush and now possibly back to Clinton. GIVE ME A BREAK!!

Side note: Did anyone notice Hillary bit Obamas campaign. I saw something on the news where she lifted her arm and sayed "Yes we will" my mouth fell open.

I love Michelle and I think this situation is sad. I agree with a lot of things that Rev. Wright has to say, but I don't think this was the time to grandstand. I think he should've waited until Barack was elected to go on his media blitz. African Americans are only about 13% of the population (hell and half of us don't vote), so Barack does need the white vote to get in the White House.

I applaud Michelle for standing up for her husband. I hear about Rev.Wright everyday on The View with the dang on Elisabeth. She is constantly being told by Whoopi that the rev's views are not Obama's. But people have failed to mention the racist comments of Ralph Buchanan which was well addressed on the Tom Joyner morning show by Tavis. I agree with some of the views that Rev. Wright has but I do feel his timing was way way off. At least let him get into office first gosh:)
Tell your mama about obama!!

missamerica, just wondering if your read any of the comments in the room. After Willie Boy did his deed in the White House it was Hillary who sought after Rev Wright to clean up their reputation.

I will also add that Rev Wright knew that if Barack was going to run for president that he would have to eventually severe ties with him. This was a dicussion they had back in early 2007.
