Critics: “Sex and the City SUX!”

Poor Jennifer Hudson jumps from one bad movie (“Dreamgirls”) only to land in another. According to perezhilton.com, the Summer’s much-anticipated blockbuster release Sex and the City premiered in London and was widely panned by the critics over there.

One critic said:

There may be a problem with a film when a narrator constantly tells you the meaning of what you have just seen, gift-wrapping each scene with a moral.

There may be a problem with stretching Sex and the City into a two hour and twenty minute film – it can feel like a never ending dinner party: however pleasant the courses, after a while you can hardly eat another one. (Source)

That does not sound good. Sex and the City: The Movie opens nationwide on May 30.

i knew off the bat that this movie wouldn’t be that great. i mean sometimes shows should just be left as shows. i can’t even imagine jennifer being in a role in that film.

I actually like Jennifer Hudson. I don’t know why people don’t like her, or think she can sing. Could it be cause she is one of the handful of blacks to win an Oscar and alot of people are feeling some type of way about that? Anyways I personally think she can BLOW! It’s just her voice doesn’t have that pop mainstream crossover appeal its more powerful. Whatever the case is I’m rooting for her. As for the movie I thought people just like it for the fashion not necessarily the theme and shyt? That’s the only reason I watched the show. I personally don’t relate to white girls but whatev I will be watching to steal some fashion ideas. Lol

Only watched pieces and parts of Dream Girls and found it to be a great movie. My kids have watched it a few times and love it.

Watched a few episodes of Sex and the City. Watching all the so called leaked footage it looks like a waste of my time and money. Zuley, Carrie’s clothes are the ones you see on a run way. Over the top and would not have any place to wear them to. lol

    LAChick says:

Dreamgirls is a bad movie is code for Sandra don’t like Jennifer and that other chick in the movie, with the husband she don’t like either. Sex in the City as a movie is a day late and a dollar short, it should have been done while the series was at its peak and Sarah Jessica looked fresher and younger. Let’s not think about the rest of the dolls, they have really passed the point of interest. One can only hope the fashion is hot.

I don’t understand how anyone could possibly think a “Sex in the City” movie could be good in the 1st place…

It was a witty, comical tv series…the end. Thats like making a “Girlfriends” or “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” movie…I don’t think “Sex in the City” ended with many loose ends. The only tv series I could understand coming to the big screen is “Sopranos” or “The Wire” b.cuz those shows had no real closure.

Mz Magnificent… U know daggon well that they are not turning our series into a movie. Could u imagine Moesha as a movie? Sex & the City was a great series, it pushed the envelope & it was thought provoking (ie “He’s Just Not That Into You). I agree with whoever said they should have made it when it was in its peak. I’m sure its still gonna make a ton of money. I’m forcing my boyfriend to buy the bootleg.. What? I dont discriminate!! LOL

I loved DREAMGIRLS and remember Jennifer Hudson won an Academy Award for her role, so I don’t think she would view it as a bad career move either. Regardless of what the critics say the movie will give her more notariety.

    pointhimout says:

critics are just that. depending on the amount of payola, you can get them to say just about anything. i do think this should have been an HBO movie, since the show aired there for like what, 6-7 years?????

i hope jennifer doesn’t follow the footsteps of cuba gooding jr….all his sh!t goes str8 to dvd/video.

I love Dreamgirls! Stop it Sandra! JHud looks great and she still has loads of success to come by. J rocked her Effie role in Dreamgirls. I watch it everytime it comes on cable..too much now because I’m starting to memorize the lines “You sleepin’ wit her Curtis and everybody knows it!” “Magic don’t have a father.” LOL.

LMAO @ MOCHAMOMMY…sure you right!!! They need to make a movie off “The Wire” though…I wasn’t even a big fan of it but they did that show soooooo dirty. That ending sucked so bad…

    katgirl33 says:

umm, how could she have won an Oscar for such a bad movie?????

And as far as it sucking…..I bet this movie makes $100 million the opening weekend…..watch….

I used to think the series sucked….until I started watching it…..was pretty good…..

    Mia says:

I don’t care what one critic said. His opinions aren’t my opinions. I love Sex and the City and will definitely be at the movies opening weekend.

Dreamgirls was a very good movie IMO.

@Zuley ~ Jennifer can blow. I don’t think anyone disputes that. But there is more to singing than blowing. Personally, I don’t want a JHud album that full of her blowing like she’s at church. She needs to learn to have some control over that big voice of hers.

I loved Dreamgirls and saw it a bunch of times. I also love Sex and the City and think it will make a good movie.

    HunE916 says:

Like they say, opinions are like @ssholes; everybody has one!

Of course Dreamgirls wasn’t a bad movie! If it were, it wouldn’t have been nominated for so many Oscars! And J Hud wouldn’t have even GOTTEN the role in Sex in the City if it weren’t for Dreamgirls.

True fans of any television series will always go to se the movie remake, no matter how ‘bad; anyone says it is. You get caught up in the characters as if they were your family. Like if you haven’t seen your favorite cousins in years; even though things will never be the same as they were when you were kids, you’re still going to go hang and kick it with them at the family reunion! lol

    P.S.
About The Wire..I think the people that truly understood the series were the only ones who GOT the finale! It was perfect in very way, because the whole moral of the series was things will always remain the same; same sh!t, different toilet!

I love Dreamgirls!! I haven’t seen acting like that in a long time or heard singing like that….Sex and the City I love that show I think the movie is going to be hott…I’m a gay man so of course I adore women blk or wht or can dress to the 9 and hit the streets letting the kids have it…But judging some of Sandra picks on friends and clothing she seems Ghetto and somewhat of a butch dyke(and we know they can’t dress)..so its natural that she wouldn’t like Jennifer or Dreamgirls.
