Soulja Girl Arrested

The 25-year-old woman who was videotaped verbally abusing a senior citizen on a Marta train is in custody in the DeKalb County jail charged with disorderly conduct.

Soulja Girl’s sister and baby daddy called into the Ryan Cameron Show on V-103 today. Soulja Girl’s sister told Ryan that her sister was diagnosed with bipolar disorder 5 years ago and the incident on the train was the result of her sister not taking her meds.

She said Soulja Girl was turned into police by their mother yesterday and she is being held on $300 bail.

    i’m not surprised…it was obviously she has mental issues…i’m not sure jail is the best thing for her, she she needs help…

    It wasn’t like there was a reward. Things have to be bad for your own sister and baby daddy to turn you in.

    Jail is not the answer. Mental illnes is what it is and I hope she gets help.

    I’m happy this issue is being taken care of. But since when did bipolar disorder involve delusions? she called that old lady george bush and asked jeezy to get on a mixtape. to me, she seems more schizo and manic than anything

    Long ago, people like this used to be institutionalized. Too many mentally ill people are let loose on the street, improperly managing their own care. I caught the video late. I thought she was about 17 or 18 years old. Clearly, she was having a meltdown. She needs court ordered med supervision for compliance. It probably won’t happen.

    I knew that she had some mental illness issues going on with her. You can tell the different between someone being high on drugs verses being mentally ill. Hopefully she gets the help she needs.

    Anna, jail might be the answer as a wake up call. She still needs to be held responsible for he action and inactions.

    ok…why wasn’t her family around to make certain she took her meds? Calling into the show doesn’t solve anything its all after the fact..she’s obviously not capable of handling things on her own and i’m quite certain this is not the first time she wilded out..however this is probably the first time she’s been caught out there doing it..her mama turned her in to get some peace and quiet..seriously, who can’t come up with 300 to bail someone out?

    Bond=$300 the lady fam member said. So that’s $30 cash?

    thats what i was thinkin 2unruly… i hate to say it but that guy sounds like the typical lazy negro. they’re blaming the city for her illness, but she’s a grown woman. she or her family need to get her some health insurance so this can be taken care by someone besides the govt

    I’m with #6…truestory. She needs to sit in jail and reflect…however, seeing how they can’t even come up with $300 to bail her out how in the hell can she afford the medication she needs to function properly?

    No money + No insurance = No meds….

    You can’t execute a mentally challanged person. Jail in her case may not help if she does not understand what she did. She needs to be re elevalated. It only takes a few missed pills for them to become an out of control person. They stop taking them because they feel better. (They have convinced themselves they feel better and don’t need them).

    can souljah boy be charged for influencing her? first, boy throws rock at souljah boy’s bus, now girl attacks granny.

    now she needs to crank that medication, new song she could bring to the industry, CRANK DAT PILL.

    anyone has a new dance that she could use?

    @ #12anna:

    i totally agree w/ you…

    as far as her family making sure she takes her meds, the girl is grown and will make her own decisions…she needs to be held accountable for her actions, but i’m thinking psych ward…they may need to evaulate her and re-evaluate her meds…mental illness is a very serious illness overlooks…i have a feeling she’s more than bi-polar though…

    i truly hope she doesn’t have any kids…

    stylerazzi, they probably are fed up with her and the system they accuse of failing her. That was probably their plea for help for her. Hopefully, the system down there takes care of inmates with mental illness, and will at least get her started back on whatever she was taking or give her a thorough evaluation to see if she even has a proper diagnosis.

    why is it the city’s responsibility to help her though? I knew she just wasn’t normal.

  27. 27
    2Unruly says:

    kpakpando, if people with mental illness did not get some form of assistance by way of medication, you’d want more people in that state of mind running rampant, approaching you, your family, friends? After she is stable, she needs to hunt that old lady down, and give her a royal proper apology. Even if it is just a public plea. She owes that too her, off meds or not.

    I don’t see anything wrong with the city helping her if she can’t afford to help her self.Thats better than spending 2 mill on see thru toilets.Ya’ll are talking about her family turning her in but that was probably the best thing b/c they an’t hold her hostage and someone would have eventually seriously hurt her.If anyone here has had to take of a family member 24-7 whether they are mentally or physically handicapped or elderly you would know that its not an easy job by a long shot.I wish her and her fam the best.No her babys father didn’t have the best grammar but at least he seems to genuinely care about her well being.

    I never watched the video or what ever went with this post. My point was that her own family turned her in and there was not a reward.(it was a joke when I typed it the first time and still is) Most families try to hide you. They turned her in because they know she is sick.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    DeKalb County jail has a psychiatrist on contract as well as a mental health nurse on staff. I’m sure by now she’s back on her meds. but the problem is when they release her she will go off her meds again.
    2Unruly says:
    Do they do court ordered med supervison or do you have to be a big enough nuisance, before the court would take such a measure. This video clip really sheds some light on mental illness, because I know of three people (and I’m no physician), who clearly have a mental illness, and are in denial. There are many black people who are mentally ill, still functioning, and in denial, and refuse to get evaluated, because of the stigma attached. I know there are whites too, but blacks are less likely to seek treatment.
    Being turned in by whoever and however is the first step to getting that girl some help- hell, it could have been the chick that did her weave. People with mental disorders, in addition to getting off medication start to self medicate with other street drugs which can create manic episodes such as the one she appeared to have. You can’t force a grown person to take their medication but hopefully she will start to get her life in control for her child. The city is not responsible, but we are by way of the city. I’d rather the city help people like her than install these red light cameras.
    The problem is the general public believes that black folks are crazy and to be diginosed(sp)only bring on more shame. They would rather not no. Like folks to afraid to get a aids test. If they don’t want to know.
    Either the state will lock them up or someone will decide to step in like Britney’s dad did to take over. We would not let our senile/dementia/alzimeiers(sp)parent handle their own check book. It is very difficult to make someone take their meds. Unless they live with someone willing to keep a schedule usually it is not going to happen. It’s also like knowing when to take away your parents key. Some parents are willing and some are so stuborn because it is their feedom. I do tell my almost 74 yr old dad that when it is time for me to take the keys away please don’t fight me.
    If a person is mentally ill, why are they trusted enough to take their medication? I can’t make sense of that.. The blame is always on the mentally ill person, but why should they be the one to blame when they aren’t right enough in the head to act right or to know that the way they are acting is not right.. Confusing..
    yep, could have been a bigger mess. Too bad ppl can’t enjoy and read a paper or a bible on their commute to work. In my city we have commercials of how relaxing riding the city bus can be. Of course with the price of gas the commerical gets to kill two birds with one stone, so to speak.
    Baby Daddy has a point about the city not helping people like her. The care African-American people receive is not as effective or consistent as others, in particularly those caught up in the wel-fare system. It’s obvious her family loves her but the city is not responsible for her actions. Yeah, she’s probably a good girl, loves the kids and has 3 jobs and all that, but she has a problem. So my question is what if she had harmed the older woman, then what? This incident is more than someone looking for 15 minutes of youtesttubebaby fame. It highlights the lack of proper care we give to ourselves when we ignore our illnesses [then want to blame the "system"], the lack of respect we have for others and the ignorance of those who support “wrong” and blaming it on medication. So if she’s bi-polar and YOU KNOW or suspect she’s not taking her meds then put her in a straight jacket. Go figure, cause next time this could end tragically. She’s Black. She ain’t getting on the Today Show, ahight?
