Mandela Rejects Naomi Campbell
Troubled British model Naomi Campbell’s name was removed from a list of presenters at Nelson Mandela’s 90th Birthday celebration concert.
Campbell’s name was removed due to a conviction resulting from an arrest at Heathrow Airport. She was recently sentenced to 200 hours of community service.
According to the Times Online, a source close to the concert said it was fair to say that Mandela was behind the decision.
“People were disappointed by what happened,” said the source. “In the past she had spoken to Mandela about her anger. It’s not the behavior of a charity ambassador.” Whatever. Celebrities in London aren’t celebrated or rewarded for their bad behavior as they are here.
Actor Will Smith will host the concert on June 27 at Hyde Park in London. Amy Winehouse, Annie Lennox, Leona Lewis, Queen and Simple Minds will perform. All proceeds from the benefit concert will go towards Mandela’s charity, 46664. The concert is timed to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the Free Mandela concert.
Mandela was held prisoner on Robben Island for 27 years – during which time he was known only by the number 46664. Mandela turns 90 on July 18.

Oh hell no – Naomi gets booted off and Winehouse gets to perform. Something just doesnt seem right.
I can understand & agree with their actions. Why would they have an [obvious] violent person speaking (or presenting anything) at a nonviolent person’s birthday celebration? That would tarnish the entire image they’re going for
I have at T-shirt with that (Mandela – 46664) across it.

Oh and about the post. I think that they did right by not allowing her to attend. However, I don’t think it’s fair that Amy Crackhouse is able to attend as well.
Make is legal, make it fair.
Sandra your girl, Dame Shirley Bassey had to pull out because of health problems and they’re still on the fence about Amy Winehouse performing for crack, uh I mean health reasons.
But it’s Nelson’s party he can do what he wants.
Naomi needs to get her act together, maybe her and Amy can get together and do a couple of lines and then go blow to blow!!
Neither of them deserve to be there!

It just hit me, God really took care of that man. He is going to be blessed to see 90 and has a story to tell. Now that I think about, maybe Amy DOES need to be there. It usually takes one person to make someone else want to change their life around. She may need to see someone who is 90 and in their right state of mind. Someone send a note that she needs to sit at his table.

actually naomi was there and inappropriately dressed (some see thru get up). no need to fear though, in true naomi form she did look the fool.
Amy looks like shes on her last days and Naomi needs to go away for a while…you know to recoup and grow her hair back.
i also remember on her mtv cribs spot when she said mandela was her godfather. i dont think you loosely give and accept these titles. sure she has done some crazy ish, but if we’re supposedly that close, my antics aren’t going to make u scratch me from a list, especially if none of my antics had nothing to do with you (or embarrassed you).
i’m sure she got there and behaved…
