Greg Street hosted the Meet & Greet at DBS Sounds

Rap artist Pliers was in town last week for the Hot 107.9 Birthday Bash festivities. He also made time to meet his fans and sign copies of his CD Definition of Real.

Later that night, Pliers made a paid appearance at PURE nightclub. I’m told the VIP was thick with hongry hoochies willing to pay $100 to get close to their sex symbol. I don’t get it.

Even back in early 2006, he was asking for $10-20k a show to perform in clubs and venues all through south florida so he already had money before his deal from shows and selling his own cds…………… YES I’m A PLIES STAN!!!!!

— You & me both. I wish he would come to NJ …. Outside of the Bust it BABY song/anthem, there is so much more to Plies if you go beyond the surface. I appreciate what he is doing in the industry. People who listen to his music know and respect it for what it is. The album has a decent array of songs and if you listen to his early music you would know that he is indeed CONSISTENT, that I RESPECT more tahn anything else. He has a following and YES …. Team Plies all day! He looks cute, dressed simply and out to see the fans. Nice! Go Plies!

Well personally I would like to say that to each its own. Just because you might not like a person does not mean that it is not ok for someone else to like them. (That was not directed towards you Sandra). Let Plies do what he do cause at the end of the day “Who’s Hotter Than Plies…..Not you”. He is still making his money. This world is a mess. Nothing or no one ever measures up to “society”.Plies is a good rapper and he has some dope beats and punch lines in his song. His songs always have catchy type verses or hooks.Let this man shine. I love him and nothing is wrong with me. I am not a groupie or known of the above. I just like the way he raps. and that also does not make me a thug, gangsta, or ghetto. I am very versitlie when it comes to music. GIve credit for when it’s due. Credit is due for Plies. I have a question for anybody who’s there…What makes Plies so different from lets say Snoop?

First, him having good beats is not really a compliment to him….its a compliment to the dudes that make the beats and the management that pays for them…..which usually means that the artist is in some pretty debt. Im no fan of the bust it babies or all that other garbage that you can dance to but, get no knowledge from. Just a bunch of words that keep the ghetto girls ghetto….. I worked too hard to get up out the ghetto for me to sit around praising some dude that makes girls want to be called bust it babies…

I’m a little older than you but I think we’re out of our age group here, Plies is for the 13-23 age group (bust it babies), we were raised listening to Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, Outkast, Pharcyde …I could go on…but unfortunatley alot of kids were raised lisetening to this crap they call hip hop, I actually feel bad for them…they’ve missed out.

For example, right now I’m listning to Goodie Mob Beautiful Skin…that is how black women are to be written about…

yes, these kids have evolved to glorify thier circumstances instead of working to change them. mommas (parents in general)are having to work more these days and dont spend the time to knock their kids the f-out anymore and educate them on the possibilities outside of their struggles. we use to turn to music for that knock out….but, now, these kids have nothing/nobody to raise them but, eachother. my dad gave me a lecture on LL Cool J’s song “i need love” ..i rolled my eyes a billion times but, that talk sticks in my head to this day. its something i will pass on to my child as she grows with her peers. im already saving for my bail money the first time i hear my daughter call herself a f-ing “bust it baby”….i will bust her ass all over our town and drive her to oakland and let the dudes on the street tell her about herself and what a f-ing bust it baby is! okay, ill calm down…she is only 2….jail is a long way off.

PLIES is so mcuh more than the BUST it BABY song people …. Do people talk all day and all night about Nas, Jay-Z, Tupac, Biggie, etc. based on ONE SONG … NO. So understnad that he is more than the lyrics to the Bust it BABY song, and for the record. I am not ghetto, living in the ghetto or without respect for other artist. Don’t assume people are a certain way because of one artist they respect or like.

it doesnt mean you live in the ghetto but, it does mean that you support music that does not help uplift our people out of the ghetto (my opinion) and yes, ive heard other songs…. i pulled them out of the recycle bin and threw them in the trash where they belong. but, whatever…i must agree to disagree with some of you which is fine. love the diversity.

and half that damn jewlery is borrowed or given to the artist by the record company for image purposes …doesnt mean a damn thing about whats in his bank account …or, he could have bought it all…of which case, …WGAF? the music is still garbage.

yeah, im from houston texas … went from the gutta to the burbs thanks to my dad who had a loud voice and a long reach. year and a half in maui (would not raise my kid in that school system) and now im settled down in this wonderful ass northerncali weather…

see back in the day you could have snatched those 15 year old bust it babies up and kicked their ass in the complex and send them home to they momma…. now, all you can do is shake your head cause people ready to call the laws nowadays when you put these hookers in check. and @ Dizz, ….i do not live in Oakland. I pray for those who have to live there because the cost of living here in insane. Ive done my “Oakland” time and am thankful I was able to raise out of it. …you dont have to be stuck anywhere in life where you dont feel safe. …but, thats for another blog another day. But, you best beleive I dont have any problem rolling through the hood to give my kid a reality check…. those dudes dont bother me because I respect that they are not ready, willing, or able to make the change…in today’s society, its very hard… I was stuck in it for quite sometime….just thankful that i had a parent who cared at the time to get me through.
