Tomorrow is the 4th of July but it sure doesn’t feel like it. Usually by now a dozen people would have asked me what up for the 4th? But so far, only 3 people have inquired. Normally by now I would hear the staccato pattern of automatic gunfire in the air signaling the 4th is near. But so far I have not heard one report.
What’s going on? Is it the high price of gas that’s got everyone depressed? Or is it the 6,000 foreclosures a month in Georgia alone that’s killing the mood?
I know what Wesley Snipes’ attorney is doing for the 4th. Dan Meachum and his wife (an Atlanta doctor who delivers celebrity babies) are renting out the elegant Versace mansion in Miami to throw a star-studded bash. I know this because half of Atlanta is emptying out to attend the party.
As you know, the Versace mansion is not cheap to rent even for one night. Why would anyone who’s not a celebrity spend that kind of loot on a party for himself? I notice that celebrity attorneys — that is to say, attorneys who have celebrities as clients — tend to do this a lot. They tend to be the type who crave the spotlight for themselves. Take Bobby Brown’s Atlanta attorneys for instance: all of them are attention whores no strangers to the party circuit.
So what are you doing to celebrate the 4th this year? Or are you like me and didn’t realize the 4th of July was tomorrow?

i’ve done my juneteenth celebration and now i’m good..the fireworks are for the kids..it’s just another day
I have been looking forward to this weekend since January… Anytime I get a 4 day weekend, I’m beyond thrilled. This party at the Versace mansion must be under wraps cuz no one in Miami is talkin about it…. I, myself, find it kinda weird to party in a dead man’s house, but to each his own. Be safe everyone!!! luv yall!
I going out to a middle school(those who graduated in 2000 or earlier) party tonight and tomorrow I will be sitting on the lawn with my children watching the fireworks. The highschool they use to shoot them off is at the end of my street. I don’t have to be bothered with the crowds.

it doesn’t feel like the 4th..but i have a 4 day weekend and IM HAPPY!..i will be at the beach and then i will be hitting up several bbqs all weekend..i already saw fireworks at Kanye’s ‘flashing lights’ performance, so i’m good for the year!

Naw it doesn’t feel like the 4th…I’m just hanging out with the fam and then going to one of my gyrl’s pool party.
Other than that ain’t nothing poppin in DC for me…maybe I can catch a few 4th of July sales in Georgetown or something.
Im staying close to home in the DMV area (DC, Maryland, VA for those that dont know) so i will be partying at one of the clubs in Bmore or DC.

I’ll try to make the best of it though…maybe I can crash a cookout when I get back home.
But, it sure doesnt feel like the 4th…I’ll be traveling bak home on the 4th.
Here in Northern Cali/Bay Area, we are lucky if you can rent a two bedroom apartment for under 1800/month in a good area for kids (no liquor stores and dealers on every other corner)…. thats 600 more than when I first moved here in Dec of 04 and 1100 more than when I lived in Texas. I won’t even go into the 5$ premium gas if your car will only drink the good stuff….
So, no I feel like this recession has taken the fun out of the 4th. It will be a blessed day near home with my family. Thanking God for the wonderful roof over our head and peace within.
I will be on that Patron for sure… Abd eating some good BBQ, spending time with the fam. In GA it’s all about the 4th of July outfit you get your kids or yourself. Play cards be with my man and be happy the slave master gave me a day off:) And I ain’t driving no where

…I am definetly not going to Lenox Mall or running the Peachtree Road Race!… I have a couple of BBQ invites, but that’s about all. My plans to attend Essence fell through so I will be chillin’
I’m having a big BBQ at my house. Ribs, Chicken, Pulled Pork, Homemade Mac & Cheese, Greens and much more. Fireworks at about 8:30. We aren’t spending as much on fireworks this year. Happily my kids are getting older and we live in LA where most people have so many illegals sitting on your porch is like being at a Fireworks show for free.

I am up to nothing but cleaning my house. They passed a new law making it legal to carry handguns in public places so I am extra cautious where I go in the ATL now. So, with that being said, everyone have a very safe weekend and we will catch up with each other on Monday or Tuesday at the latest

Since it’s my father’s birthday on the 4th, I’m just celebrating his birthday with my family and celebrating my sister for finally making it out of school to be a nurse.
