Open Call: Lil’ Wayne Wants YOU!
Lil’ Wayne’s peeps reached out to Sandrarose.com today to request extras for a music video featuring Wayne, Baby and G Malone currently being shot at Dreamz nightclub in Decatur. The shoot started at 12 noon and is expected to continue through the day. So you have plenty of time to get there.
Weezy is already in the building, but don’t expect him to have a Styrofoam cup in his hand. According to label sources, Weezy has been “clean” for three weeks now. Supposedly, his doctor told him that his liver is hanging on by a thread and he would likely suffer the same fate as Pimp C if he kept sipping the syrup.

I heard that “syrup” was cough medicine, possibly mixed with something else. I think somebody made a rap about it called “sippin on some sizzurrp”. I think I’ve heard it called “lean”. Pimp C had a verse in Jay-Z’s Big Pimpin’ “smokin ____, throwin’ up, keep that LEAN off in my cup”. Pimp C also possibly died from the same “drank”.
I’m just sayin’.

someone at my job just told me it was Cough syrup laced with Codeine (sp) … a prescription is the only way to get it … hmmmm .. wonder who the Dr is writing the script.

If anyone wants to be slow it’s because they have already had a pick me up and need to calm down and unwind. Them white folks use to take uppers in the morning and downers at night.
Sizzurp is perscription strength cough syrup with codene. I can’t say for sure, but I think drug dealers make it or at least have a way of obtaining it obviously. I don’t know about anywhere else, but I know it is very popular in Texas. Wayne is from New Orleans, but he went to college in Houston. TSU, I think. For all I know its popular in New Orleans too, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he picked up the habit in Houston where it is damn near as popular as weed. It is very dangerous and has lead to the premature deaths of several Houston rappers and likely many more regular folk, not by overdose, but by complications due to abuse such as heart attacks. The rapper Bun B is the most recent high profile victim of sizzurp when it worked against his sleep apnea. If I recall correctly sizzurp was also part of the deadly mix of drugs that River Phoenix overdosed on, but don’t quote me on that. It could have been cough drops. I know it was cough something.

I meant to say Pimp C, not Bun B. Also I hope Wayne is clean, but I can’t imagine him doing it just because the doctor says so. All drug addicts know their addiction is deadly and that doesn’t make any of them stop.

That is incorrect. While those may have been two of the drugs in his system they were not the only ones. His death was even more shocking than Heath Ledger’s and got a lot of coverage and much was made of the usually safe cough drops/cough syrup reacting adversely to the other drugs in his system. I don’t care what inaccurate info Wikipedia is dishing out. I remember. That boy had slew of drugs in his system.
anyhoo, if this story is true, I for one am sooo glad that this kid stopped drankin! He has a little girl, not to mention all the kids that (for some reason) look up to him as a great rapper!! Gon head and work it out then Weezy, from the old heads - rap isn’t dead, didn’t you tell us you got it?
The last time I went to a rapper’s open call to shoot a video was way back in 96 or 97. It was for Outcast’s “Jazzie Bell”. I was so naive back then that I didn’t know that the “Gentleman’s Club” was a stip joint. (I am not from Atlanta originally). Anyway, when I got there I was stunned, but went direclty upstairs. To make a long story short, they cast me in the video. The next day I went to the Fox Theater where Divine Stephens was the choreographer and they asked me to put on this little teeny, weeny outfit. I couldn’t bring myself to put it on. I just watched them shoot the video and decided not to be featured. My point is young ladies that are thinking about going. Go ahead and to and hopefully you won’t be requested to do or wear anything you aren’t comfortable with. If so, DON’T. (these days chick are doing anythingto be in a video though) I am VERY happy with my decision eleven years ago. I’m not preachin’, teachin’.

Oh, I got ya. Like he may have taken those things prior to that date and he just had traces left. The media played it like all those things made a toxic mix that killed him and I have fallen for that story all these years. Ain’t that some mess.

Syrup or Purple Drank is huge in Texas. Three Six Mafia advertised it when they ran around with the baby bottles but yes it is cough syrup with codeine. That’s where the Screwed and Chopped genre comes from because once you drink it everything becomes slow motion. DJ Screw died from it and he is was the originator.
