The Obamas Cover People Magazine
Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama scores another national magazine cover — this time with his family. Obama and his wife Michelle allowed People magazine to take a rare glimpse into their family life at his Chicago home.
- Some highlights:
- The girls have rules to follow, such as making their beds, setting their own alarm clocks, keeping the playroom toy closet clean and lights out at 8:30.
-They get a $1 per week allowance from Dad for doing their chores, like setting and clearing the dinner table.
-They receive no birthday or Christmas presents from Mom and Dad, who spend “hundreds” on birthday slumber parties and, as Barack puts it, “want to teach some limits.” Says Michelle: “Malia says, ‘I know there is a Santa because there’s no way you’d buy me all that stuff.’” (Source)
According to People, the interview with Obama and his family this Summer was conducted before the controversial interview with Access Hollywood aired.
The magazine hits stands tomorrow (7/25).

The cover is adorable. I can’t wait to read the story.
I read the story. It was a great look into a wonderful family. This is the way I raise my kids, to understand hard work and morals.
This is a great looking family. The youngest one is just sooooooooooooo cute. The oldest one is to, she got her dads smile.

Love Them. This ish about a man having a baby is getting on my nerves. They are making such a big deal about this “IT” born a woman but thru medicine and surgery looks like a man. These people can get away with whatever and it becomes a headline and then their famous. Does anybody know if HE/She got paid and how much, I feel said for the child. Will people ever learn it’s the child that gets it in the end.

Forgot to add, I think they are really trying to teach the girls a great lesson that money doesn’t grow on trees due to their background. Hell Mel Gibson had so much money he has seven kids and as they were growing up had to do chores to get money and when they were like 15 or 16 they had to get a job and his own people thought he was wrong, but he said he didn’t grow up with money and wanted the kids to learn nothing is handed down to you , you have to earn it because life isn’t easy.

What’s wrong with $1 renumeration? I mean what expenses could they possibly have at their ages when all of their needs and some of their wants are taken care of? I don’t believe children should have access to large amounts of money at a young age and to them $5 should be alot.

My dad was slick. We got a weekly allowance but he had the last laugh. We had to spend it on school lunches.

THEY ARE SUCH AN AWESOME FAMILY! I see Obama pays like he weighs, but it’s understood – hell I work for the gub’ment, too! President or not, I wish them well in all their endeavors!

I love the OBAMA family. Malia looks just like her dad and Sasha looks just like Michelle. Our “First Black Family”. Now looking on the side notes I see “IT” has had the baby. Lord help them!! Jennifer Garner is preggers again.
