Sources: Da Brat gets pleal deal in Halloween attack

According to a credible music industry source, rapper Da Brat, real name Shawntae Harris, has agreed to a plea deal that will likely include one year in jail for assaulting a waitress at a Halloween party last year.

In contrast, rapper T.I. will serve a minimum of 9 months in a federal prison in addition to completing 1,500 hours of community service for felony weapons possession.

The source stated Harris is set to turn herself in later this week on the “8th or 9th” to begin serving her sentence. But according to Dekalb county’s judicial system website, Harris is scheduled for a pretrial hearing on August 22, 2008 at 9 AM in Superior court.

On Nov. 1, 2007, Harris was charged with aggravated assault for attacking a waitress with a rum bottle at Jermaine Dupri’s Studio 72 during a star-studded Halloween party.

In 2000, Harris was charged with felony aggravated assault for pistol whipping a woman at a Buckhead nightclub. She pleaded guilty to a lessor charge of misdemeanor reckless conduct, and was sentenced to one year probation, ordered to pay $1,000 in restitution and served 80 hours of community service.
