The Jackson 5 will reunite next month in Los Angeles where will be honored with a lifetime achievement prize at BMI’s Urban Awards on September 4.
A BMI spokeswoman said all the Jackson brothers except Michael have confirmed they will attend the ceremony at Beverly Hills’ Wilshire Theater. The group will not perform. Instead, a star-studded collection of music acts will pay tribute to the band with a medley of the brothers’ greatest hits.
The Jackson 5 were the first band ever to have their first four singles (”I Want You Back”, “ABC”, “The Love You Save”, and “I’ll Be There”) reach #1 on the pop charts. The J5 was also the first black teen idols to cross over and appeal to white audiences. (Source)

Hard to go back and picture me lusting at the pic. Look how skinny they are. No muscles, chest hair and mood rings. I also heard they are all broke. I think some of them live with their parents. Not interested in seeing the show but will watch. I think if you have not contributed anything in the last decade how do you get a lifetime acheivement award.

The Jacksons were not the first teenaged act to cross over. Who knows how many acts did that before them, but Frankie Lymon (Why Do Fools Fall In Love) immediately comes to mind. I’m glad they are doing it without Michael. I was just thinking the other day that the family shouldn’t allow Michael to ruin the tour they so desperately want to do together and I so desperately want to see. They should go without his a$$. Granted, I’d pay less for a tour without Mike, but I’d still be willing to pay several hundred dollars to see Janet, the boys and Rebbie.
