HUNE916…Oprah may not sign all of her checks, she probably does have an electronic signature. But, I’d be willing to bet my next paycheck, that old girl handles all of her own accounts and has NOT given power of attorney to her business managers/accountants to pay stuff on her behalf. I’m sure she is abreast of her accounts activities. Hell, she can access her funds via the Internet. And if a discrepancy arises, I betcha she has a private funds manager/money market manager/etc. — most wealthy folks do — whom she can contact day or night to get to bottom of stuff.

Why doesn’t Miatta handle her own accounts? That’s the worst thing that any business person can do which is totally entrust his/her accounts to an accountant/business manager/financial advisor.

Oprah Winfrey handles all of her own accounts and signs all checks. She said she learned that lesson from Bill Cosby. If Oprah, a billionaire, can keep tabs on her funds, little Ms. Miatta needs to begin handling her own funds at well. This is the reason why she’s in the mess she’s in now by not knowing what’s going on with her money.

I guess that is why Oprah is a Billionaire and so many other people are not. Look at poor (literally) Dame Dash having to sue his accountant for getting him into tax trouble.

I agree posting the check is a bad thing, but blogs and even news sites post this kinds of stories all the time. How many times have we read that Lil Wayne has stiffed a promoter by not showing up for events even though he has been paid? It is what it is.

my questions is why would you write a check if you knew the funds weren’t there…??? she knew she didn’t have the money to pay him when she wrote the check…this is bad business.

I could not have said it better myself.. reading these comments, everybody so for this mess not thinking of concequences and repercussions, and the backlash this could cause Sandra posting this mess. never the less someone actually coming for you because your going off of something another said which may not be totally true. Then Sandra added “We dont play this in the A” without ever hearing what the girl had to say.. SMH

Here is something Oprah said about signing the checks. This isn’t the quote from when Roseanne was on (and they bet $10,000 and Roseanne couldn’t pay up) but nevertheless its basically saying the same thing:

I sign every check. Although it is now tedious because the bills that come in from running and maintaining a studio — everything from Federal Express to Xerox, to every tape that needs to be repaired, and so forth — it gets to be a lot.

I have stacks and piles of checks to do, and I know that there are a lot of successful people who don’t do that. I still have a tenement mentality. I’ve been very poor in my life, and so the idea of having money and not being responsible and knowing how much money you have and keeping control of it, is not something that I personally can accept. I know that there are other people who can, but it’s just not a possibility for me. I need to know where it is. There are times when I think I want to go to the bank and say, “Show it to me.” Because just seeing it on a piece of paper — anybody can print out a piece of paper. So I watch it very carefully and try to maintain responsibility for it.

SR, I advise you that before you decide to start doing this section on a regular basis you cross your T’s and dot your I’s before you get sued for slander! I just assisted with a celebrity charity foundation weekend for a very popular NBA player, in which we did not get compensated for. Someone threatened to go to the local radion station there and air all their dirty laundry (even though mostly false accusations), and there were attorneys calling first thing Monday morning.

Be careful who is making accusations, sometimes people are just bitter and are willing to do anything for revenge. Be aware that you can be sued, even though this is a blog!! The young lady whose pic u posted has every right to sue u for slander if she wanted to take it there…FYI!!!

Yall are sooo judgemental, maybe they check cleared too fast before she got paid???

Yeah but the whole account story doesn’t sit with me either. She had to sign the check it was like that it was computer printed by ADP. I get checks from accounting firms all the time and they are printed.

I use that excuse to sometime, I usually just tell them that the check is in the mail and blame the USPS.
