I believe Tavis Smiley is one of those crabs in the barrel, you know the main one trying to hold some one back. He has been trying to show up Obama every since he turned down the invitation to his show. I haven’t him, Dr. Cornel West or Dr. Julianne Malveaux try to accomplish what Obama has done. They are all very well educated, ijust don’t understand their issue with him

You OBEY/FOLLOW the rules, after you pass and get your lisense, THEN you can break the rules.

It’s just like Black America See a person of color doing what we wanted them to do. To achieve what we thought would not ever happen in our lifetime. just to tear him down by any means necessary. Barack is for the people of all races. It would be typical of him to address he would do for the black community. Leave the man alone let him do his thing for america.

I believe, secretly, he’s jealous of Obama, and I’m almost convinced he thinks it should have been him, instead of Obama running for the seat.

I completly agree with you ReadTheBlog. Tavis just wish it were him. How can you be so bitter against something you fight so hard for? Last night was not his speech to uplift and help black people, as much as would we love him too. I loved his speech and it was moving. I hate to see black people hate on this man.

WTF? I just watched it. I wasn’t going to. That lady in that sash is a bitter Hillary Clinton supporter (true story) and Dr. West (dressed like Fredrick Douglas all the damn time) are too smart for their own damn goods. They say stuff that makes no sense at all and the general black population (who are the ONLY people in the world who sit still long enough to listen to them) are supposed to just accept whatever they say as being “deep” because they are supposed to be so damn smart. Well, I have 3 degrees and I am here to tell you that more than half the time, they don’t make any sense and use fancy words all out of context. WTF has Jesse Jackson “passed down” to Barack? Last time I checked, he was wanting to cut his nuts off because Barack is way past his level. MLK would have been proud of Barack last night and all 38 million + viewers of the speech knew exactly what “young preacher from Georgia” Obama was referring to. Get on his level and stop hating!

Tavis Smiley is a hater. He is a leading black (not black leader) who is so damn afraid that an Obama administration will minimize his own relevance in the black community. He will have less push to **** and moan about what is wrong with us and how oppressed we are. He needs to get a life and stop hating. This is not 1955. he is and has been irrelevant for a long time. He did mention it, just not using MLK’s name. Towards the end of the speech, Obama made mention to the history being made “45 years later”. She shouldn’t complain about the speech. Instead of listening for what she wanted to hear, she should learn to infer; you know, read between the lines.

Besides, had he flat out used that as an extended topic in his speech, the Mccain bunch would’ve said he was attempting to sway voters utilizing guilt trips, emotional vulnerability, and strategy rather than sincerity.

Bottom line, campaigning is a game (don’t get me wrong, life isn’t a game but…). The ultimate goal is to utilize “game”, tactics, and strategy to convince voters to vote for you rather than your opponent.
