Obama Camp: ‘Stop Hyperventilating About National Polls’

You’ve heard the old saying that no one worries about polls unless there’s something in it for them?

Well, Barack Obama’s camp seems very worried now that the momentum has swung in John McCain’s direction due to a favorable bump in polls following the Republican convention:

“There’s a lot of hyperventilating about national polls,” [Obama campaign manager, David] Plouffe said, which wasn’t a surprise since both a CBS News poll and the Gallup daily tracking poll showed McCain taking the lead nationally in the presidential race. “When you look at battleground states, we feel very good about where we are.”

But Obama might not feel the same way. In an interview with MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann, Obama looked nervous, hesitant and unsure of himself. He uttered the guttural sound “uh” repeatedly, which is annoying and distracting (I counted 24 ‘uh’s in less than a minute).

Maybe Obama should let Michelle do his interviews since she seems more sure of herself. If only Michelle were born a man, she would be our first black president.

I never believe the polls, because they are always skewed. Anyone who has taken a statistics class knows that there is always is a +/- 5% margin of error.

Does anyone watch Chris Matthews on MSNBC? He’s an older white guy who puts people on blasts when he see’s through their bull$h1# and he’s been doing just that to the Republicans. I personally don’t think BO has anything to worry about. People are excited about the Rep. because they spoke last (I still don’t understand what the excitement is about since they didn’t state specifics about policies they would implement) People are riled up over disses instead of focusing about the economy…personally I feel like anyone who cares more about “personality” and “character” more than what someone will do for this country after what we have been through these past 8 years have a disconnect in their brain. If the dem’s spoke last people would be just as excited. I have no doubt Biden will put Palin on blast during their debate as Obama will put McCain on blast during their debate. McCain and Palin have NO ideas…no plans for this country and that will show…

There will be a clearer view of things, when the debates start. Trust. If anyone remembers, John McCain was far from impressive durign the rep primary debates. If it weren’t for big tuesday…….or whatever it was called, someone else may have been repping the republican party.

Obama says “uh” all the time. Know why? Because he doesn’t have those off-the-self canned answers like every other politician. He actually THINKS about the answer before giving it!

And please believe that those polls don’t mean sh*t! They are always skewed when you do them right after some “major” event. So they are more likely to have surveyed more McCain supporters than they did two weeks ago because they were more amped up about the convention than they were the week prior.
So you aren’t polling the same demographics- therefore your results are bullsh*t!

Well…the official word is out…this country is over $400 billion dollars in debt (about half of that has gone directly into the pocket of Cheney and other outsourced Republican fronted military outfits)…

Anybody who votes for a continued Republican platform…has serious issues…

The Obama camp believed in polls when he had a 7 percent lead on McCain but now since he is behind the polls don’t matter. PLEASE!!! He put himself in this position and instead of him keeping his momentum he is slowing down. I think he needs to stay focused and keep on fighting. The race is not over until November.

yes…the polls are skewed. the polls numbers usually come from phone calls made to peoples homes. how many YOUNG people do you actually know that have home phones? most young people have cell phones and we know none of the parties are calling those. please. we’ll see what gels come november.

It’s 2 months before we go to the polls and no debates have happened. I’d be more worried if the debates had occured and we voted next week.

And like Obama said, you can’t base your entire campaign on experience, experience and experience and NOW you are all about being a maverick of change.

who cares what the polls say, obama is going to win!

if you have ever taken a research methods or statistics course and/or ever worked in research (social science, marketing, scientific, etc.) you’ll know a lot more goes into this stuff than what’s reported…

I ain’t stuntin no polls. As for Barack’s uh’s, I fear we are stuck with that. I saw some old footage of him and he was doing it then. It’s a habit that is very difficult to break. A law department training facilitator at my former company does it. He has been teaching the same class over and over for years and he still uh’s every three words. All of his students complain about how annoying it is, but they also state that he is very knowledgable about the subject matter. Because I had experience with him as the training admin when I ran into Barack it was no big deal. I know it’s just an annoying habit and he probably even does it when he talks to people.

But getting back on topic, polls mean nothing. We won’t know who’s going to win until election day.

To an extent, polls can be somewhat indicative to the political climate but are, by NO means, a definitive outcome. To me, polls (at least in the political sense) are more so a tactic. The tactic: get people (usually nonvoting folks or those who know absolutely nothing about the political process) thinking that since X is slipping in the polls, we might as well vote for Y. Just last week Obama was so called “up in the polls.” So I concur with Obama, forget the polls and get out and VOTE!

Why would he be worried about polls when most polls use 100 people. That’s not even 1% of the population. Polls mean nothing. Sandra, it must be a slow news day, you are back to bashing Obama in every other post……..

Obama still has a hefty lead in the Electoral College votes and guess what peeps? The Electoral College votes will ultimately decide who takes over the White House. We can thank the framers of the Constitution for that. The McCain camp knows this and is on a serious hustle to sway those who are undecided to vote for him.
