Video: Josh Howard disrespects Obama and the National Anthem

I know I’m late with this. Thanks to loyal reader Tanya for this tip! NBA star Josh Howard’s words stirred controversy when he was caught on a cell phone video disrespecting Senator Barack Obama and the National Anthem.

The comments were made during Allen Iverson’s Celebrity Flag football game in Baltimore in July. Howard said, “The Star Spangled banner going on right now. I don’t even celebrate that shit. But I’m black got dammit. Obama, all that shit.”

So far there’s been no apology issued from Howard’s camp which probably means he meant what he said. Not every black person is an Obama bandwagon rider.

If he said it, he indeed meant it. What gets me is that people on the news were asking if he should be reprimanded for his remarks. Why?? That’s a grown a** man. While I don’t agree with what he said, this is America and he has a right to voice how he feels. And if that’s the way he feels, then that’s the way he feels.

josh howard. j-ho. i am going to keep all of my “inside knowledge” of mr. howard to my own self. like i said we already had 3 rounds of buyouts/ layoffs and i DO wanna stay gainfully employed for now.

but i think it is common knowledge that he is barely literate and there have been accusations that he was “pushed along” at wake forest in order to get a degree. wake forest is one step down from ivy league and folks are STILL scratching their heads trying to figure out how in DA hell somebody who scores 500 on their SAT gets into wake forest.

i’ll tell you how. if you can bounce a ball in this state anything can happen.

#1 i agree. i often tell people not to apologize for what they say. you said, u apparently meant it. for this idiot to come out his face and say it is of course ridiculous. and he’ll be the main one wanting respect from his peers. now you dont sing the nat’l anthem because you’re black. let someone white or another race say you do this or that cuz youre black and all phuckin hell breaks loose.

he’s young so i’m not surprised. young people think they’re invincible???? and can do whatever they want.

I agree with his comments about the National Anthem. I don’t stand up when its being sung or when the Pledge of Allegiance is being recited. I just don’t agree with it and i have my reasons, that doesn’t make me ignorant or unpatriotic

Anyways, Josh Howard is just another dude whose only claim to fame is he can put a ball through a hoop. If folks didn’t idolize athletes and make them think they were gods amongst us, no one would care. He’s entitled to his opinion – let him have it. People need to stop looking at idols and so-called black leaders for their opinions and beliefs and just think for themselves.

He didn’t say anything against Obama. He was saying he’s FOR Obama, but NOT for the Star Spangled Banner.
