Remember that joke I made about the classy director Gina Prince-Bythewood arriving at the LA premiere of her movie “The Secret Life of Bees” with young actor Tristan Wilds on her arm? Well Gina didn’t like it. Apparently the joke went over her head.
Gina responded by calling me names and such. Can you believe it?
Of course I knew she didn’t attend the premiere with Tristan. Everyone knows the popular director is married with children. Like most of you, I loved Gina’s movies. Oh well, she just lost a fan.

Too Funny!
Sandra — why are you surprised Gina responded this way? Regardless if you were joking or not, you insinuated with the post that she was stepping out on her husband. Why do you think she would find that funny. Maybe you can chalk this up to being British and that type of dry wit/humor British are noted for because nothing was funny about the post at all.
Umm, it didn’t have a very joking tone to me, Sandra. No wonder she sent you that e-mail. LOL
She’ll just have to live and hope she makes it without you as a fan.

I just think anyone could have looked at the little guy and knew that wasn’t her date. Duh! I thought it was funny, but sometimes people just don’t get a little joke. I hate she got gangsta on you, instead of saying, “Girl, you stupid, that was my cast member.” Sandra you are definitely somebody if you got them cursing at you though, lol. Be my PR. lol

I didn’t know she was married. I never even heard of her nor do I want to see that movie. Maybe when it comes on cable.
I don’t think her email was wrong. I like that she stepped up and responded. More celeb’s need to start speaking out… & going straight to the source. You should respect the fact that she didn’t go to another site and bash you. She told you upfront so it didn’t stick out in the back.

I could understand why she would be livid. If you didnt know that was her co-star and anything about her, one might assume it was true. I read it and knew it was wrong. Maybe if she was well known like the stars in the movie, it could be seen as a joke. but people dont know her. she spoke her mind, but i dont think posting her email was a good move. but hey it’s your blog
That lady knew Sandra was joking. But since she’s a nobody she feels as though she needed to comment to make this bigger than what it was. It was a JOKE… Laugh & move on!!

I would be mad too, but at the same time, I understand the humor. Oh well. You have to admit, though, with all the scandal and cesspool activity in Holly-Weird, you have to straighten out your image before someone talks about you and someone else falsely.
They say you have to have thick skin to be in that line of work. What about a sense of humor. I did not read any comments on that post that had anything bad to say. Usually Sandra posts something and we are the ones who run with it. She should have read our comments.

Ok Gina has gained a fan. She had every right to get in yoazz, in this circumstance.
Well she lost 1 and gained another. I’ve seen love and basketball but was not familiar with her. She seems like everyday people. As an every day person myself I’ve cursed out many.lol. I read on another blog where the blogger was upset with nelly and ashanti for not acknowledging their love. Then the blogger went into an in depth opinion of how Black love in Hollywood is almost taboo…The blogger used bey and jay as an example amongst others. I understood what the blogger was saying, and now start to question why couples in Hollywood like to play coy when it comes to their relationships. Folks are going to be in your business (relationship) whether you acknowledge it or not, so why not just admit it? Well here we have a woman who is proud of, and doesn’t appreciate any speculation otherwise that she is indeed in a happy committed Black relationship. Good for her. The secret lives of bees doesn’t really look like my cup of tea, but being a new fan I’ll go check it out this weekend…

I have a pet peeve about emails being sent as though you have been in an IM with someone you have known for years.
She did not capitalize names or the beginning of a sentence. (Rosie O’Donnel does the same thing on her blog.)
I realize she is a director and not a writer. She has a great job title that when sending an email should show her intelligence, even if cussing out the sendee.
She just wanted to be on SandraRose twice. I agree with ELove and ladycali, it was a joke on a blog.
Not only that, people there saw her with her husband, what does she have to prove?

I read it and knew it was sarcasm/an assumption/whatever you may call it…but unfortunately everyone may not take it that way. I personally have never heard of her either and don’t know her age. There is no way to prove that email came from her. That looks like a made up email address. Why would she care about a truly silly blog entry? I don’t know who she is nor am I aware of her work. i don’t think we are taking up for sandra. but this is her site that we choose to participate in. keyword= choose.
sandra has never corrected us when we say it (that i know of). and she has dropped hints. so i think it is safe to say yes she is lesbian. which is good for her. so her family is not going to look like what we may think is the definition of a black family. which is okay too. add in the fact she is english and she is all the things that makes us diverse up here. remember diversity? it means accepting and processing the fact that we are different but all of the SAME RACE.
