I sort of understand where this video is going, but because of all the negative stereotyping of black men by a black man, I guess the message was lost on me.
The video was produced by Marc Clark Productions, of www.nowhitetees.com which plans to sell “A Black Man Stole My Vote” t-shirts as a tribute to Obama. The t-shirts will be available at the end of this year according to his press release:
A Black Man Stole My…Vote is simultaneously a satire of racial stereotypes in the American media and a tribute to Barack Obamas historic achievement. While media images of black men committing crimes (and being wrongly accused of them) is common in the American cultural landscape, this years election has presented the country with the first instance where a black man has truly captivated tens of millions of American voters from all walks of life, forcing them to vote for him not through intimidation or violence, but through eloquence, commitment, vision, and talent.

I wonder if Obama approves of this and when he will say “stop riding my coattails and let me breath”. It does seem interesting though. Especially the point of being against violent portrayals of Black Men, then we as a community do the biggest job of contributing to that. I think that alone is hilarious and I hope it’s something Obama comes against and speaks about shortly. I think that’s why we’re basically ignored it’s like “crying wolf”. And I would like to explore the “wrongly convicted” aspect many like to bring up. Are we talking about 1 in 1000’s or what? Last time I check our communities reflect the fact that the prisons should be even more full with Brothers then they are. these guys are still in the community in large “pockets” and “gangs” and other negativity destroying our “quality of life”.
It must be hard being the first cause people will never shut up about you.
I know he is tired of it, he just wants to be a man. But everytime people see him in the white house it’s like “BLACK MAN!”
i am gonna start finding something mean to say about the queen of england every time i see that others are commenting that they feel an obama post is negative.

did anyone read sister souljah’s new book yet? i just finished reading it…it was a good read on midnight and his early/teen years…honestly i was hoping for an update on the winter, mercedes, the twins, etc…
I wonder how many people find this video to be antaganizing and “mocking” to those who have the right to choose. Just because we have a Black president now, it could be another 500 years before we have another one. I just don’t understand the mindset of some people. People like myself voted for Obama because we wanted to not because he “stole” our vote. What is really being said? When you think fear, fear will come and like a recent poll indicated Black people have the most fear even in Obama’s making the transition into the White House. We where trained by fear so we will always look at life in a fearful way. Can someone explain what is being said by these shirts?
it is kinda like saying “your momma” but instead saying “your queen…..” is that what this is about? b/c the royal monarchy will never have any color in it?
well then. i would like to thank our founding father george washington…for deciding that america should not have a king as a ruler and would be voted for BY the people.
however i have a suspicion this is not what ole georgie had in mind….

Kwall - what isn’t she feeling about the book. Blogger, was the book anywhere close to be as good as Coldest Winter?
a follow up to winter should have…well winter. said winter is hardly mentioned in the book. i think that is the biggest disappointment for winter fans. she just started but said it starts real slow too. maybe winter is further along in the book. idk. that is ironic cause i just ran into her when i stepped out for lunch and she mentioned it.
All…personally i like the book, however it’s totally DIFFERENT and UNRELATED to TCWE…when i heard she was doing a sequel awhile back, i got amped up…i read TCWE at least once a year (yep, i love it that much)! none of the characters from the first book are mentioned…it starts off w/ him as a young boy in sudan and ends w/ him in the US as a teenager…i don’t want to give away all the details, but he got married to a japenese girl…a lot of people are going to be disappointed w/ this book because of the love they had for TCWE…

@kwall: got’cha! yep, wait on her copy…when i walked in the bookstore friday they had it dead smack in the front of the store! like a crackhead i picked it like i needed a fix…all happy and $hit…once i started reading it i thought the same thing as your co-worker…i even got frustrated and flipped through the book and didn’t see nada!
