Residents of Suffolk County, Long Island awoke to graffiti spray painted on their cars last week. The vandals spray painted racial slurs and threats targeted at president-elect Barack Obama. The Secret Service is investigating due to the nature of the threats against Obama.
The victims included blacks, whites and Latinos and the message was clear: Obama’s election has failed to unite the races and bring this country together as some had hoped.

Sandra, unfortunately there are too many people like you in the world, so the possibility of complete unity is slim to none. Thankfully “your kind” are shrinking to an insignificant minority and the positive, forward thinkers are prevailing as a united front. Love ya anyway though.
Get over it
There will always be racism in the world, I don’t know of anyone that thought everything was going to turn around in 10 days, this is merely a start to what we are going to accomplish in the next 8 years. Sandra I really do think you are a Republican, I thought after the election, you would start showing more support but I guess not..I hope you read the 50 facts from yesterday since you are still looking to gain additional information on our new President (Obama 08 Y’all)…
Iamlover said it all for me …. kudos !
Obama’s election has failed to unite the races and bring this country together as some had hoped.

First of all, that is NOT THE MESSAGE. I live in NYC and it is known that Long Island is just as bad as some places in the south. Suffolk County is known for its racism so please cut the crap about Obama and his election of unity. There are more people out there who want to see something knew instead of keeping things the same like yourself. If you dont change with the times, you are not living.
I wonder if bloggers will fall to the same fate as those that outright threaten the president - posting negative stories about threats, and all. And I wonder if subtle comments are picked up on and watched… I know I’m looking froward to dropping dime on a whole bunch of people that threaten Preseident Barack Obama. - Oh, yes, I’m dropping dime *eating banana*
the Obama victory didnt end racism. what it did, was to end a way that the majority did business. the obama victory also inspired a generation that felt like they were locked out. for the first time in 400 yrs, an African American parent can honestly say, you can be anything you want to be when you grow up, even president.
We never said that he would unite all people, but unlike Bush and McCain, he has a sincerity that the people can relate to, and no matter what people (like you)say Mr. President will be in office so get over it. I mean I really don’t understand your beef with Obama, you are not a citizen so why are you always judging him, he does not even know you.
@ Readtheblog …. I ask myself the same exact thing? If they did then bloggers like Sandra would scream about their freddom of speech …yadda yadda yadda.
This is bad but it does not impact the big picture. Obamaand his team accomplished somehting great that isto be celebrated, and if 60 someother million people didn’t want to see it, it has happened. Incidents like this will occur, but we can’t let it get us down or demotivate us.The future ahead is bright …. and no matter what people try to do, there is no stopping this movement.
Ignorance has no boudaries and the individuals that were responsible for this were not in my hopeful wishes of unity once Obama was elected, really all they ignant aysses need to be put on a space shuttle and flown to the moon.
What an ignorant point of view to take….some idiots spray graffiti and it is Obama’s fault? How does this senseless act prove that he cannot unite a country? GIRL BYE!!
well the majority of us HAVE been united, which is why he won because we voted for him. But there are still some out there who won’t let “skin color” go….personally for me it just felt good to know that there are more non-racist people out there then racist. Again…skin color is not that serious…in my eyes at least.
it’s some sad folks out here….*smh*
What is he on a “magic carpet” these take time and “baby steps”. first the country has to get use to their being someone in the White House that doesn’t reflect past presidents. They need to stop publicizing these acts. “Who cares” there will always be racist people of all races. If you give them power of acknowledgment that fuels them. The media are sometimes enablers.
Yep, I suppose that it is Obama’s fault that we have not been able to eradicate racism and eliminate hate crimes in the nine days that he has been president-elect. I’m sure he’s also the reason that NBC cancelled Lipstick Jungle and they have wildfires are burning in Monticeto. Someone burned up the city trying to get Oprah for supporting him. I supposed he could be blamed for the collapse of the Haitian School and that incestuous Austrian father imprisoning, and impregnating his daughter and killing his grandkids. this Obama victory has set us back tremendously in 9 days.
But seriously though, it is not Obama’s job to unite the country, it is our job. Like Paul Revere, we must all heed the call to spread the message of hope, the message of change. He may be President, but this change will have to start at the bottom and come from the same people who helped put him in office. If we can elect a black president we can change the way we are viewed by the ignorant segments of society who think this type of behavior is okay!
In 2008-YES WE CAN
