Chambliss Credits Palin for Win; Blames Obama for Martin’s Loss

As you know by now, Saxby Chambliss won the Senate runoff last night by a wide margin over his Democratic opponent Jim Martin.

The big guns traveled to Georgia to campaign for Martin, including Bill Clinton, Rudy Giuliani and John McCain. But Barack Obama declined Martin’s invite to come to Atlanta despite the fact there was so much at stake for the Dems.

Chambliss credited the Star power of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin for his win, while at the same time questioning why Barack Obama didn’t come to Georgia to stump for Martin.

“I have no idea why he didn’t come down. His people were here. His organization was here. They really did a good job in the general election of turning out people. And whatever their game plan was this time, if he had been here, I have no idea whether it would have worked better.”

With Chambliss’ win, the Democrats lose out on the 60-vote filibuster-proof, majority control in the Senate that they had hoped for. This means Barack Obama won’t have such an easy time pushing his socialist agenda on us.

nope he was too busy helping pick his crew. sec. of state, sec. of commerce. folks need to stop expecting prez to help with EVERYTHANG. he is one man.

I FEEL ALOT OF PPL WEREN’T ENCOURAGED & MOTIVATED ENOUGH TO GO OUT AND VOTE. THEY DIDNT REALIZE & WERE UNINFORMED OF THE IMPORTANCE.

Really Ms. Sandra??? They act as if he has been on vacation. He didn’t come down there to stump for Martin, because he needed to get the ball rolling so he can be ready to work Day 1. In case no one noticed this country is going to “hell in a handbasket” real quick.

Plus, Obama does not need a super-majority in the senate. He is about change and working with both sides. His platform makes sense and will make sense to both parties once his adminstration is set. The Dems had alot at stake on November 4. They have what they need to be successful. I don’t think the GA (or MN seats) will harm them.

i just had to go to ajc to read about this a little more. for some reason i did not think the margin was so wide. something happened down there in GA…but i don’t think it woulda made a diff. if prez woulda showed up or not. idk?

i think i cosign with #6. again like i said this loss will be a road block sure but as far as it doing major harm i just don’t think so. i guess we all will see.

Maybe he wants bi-partisianship(sp) and wanted the democratic chips to fall where they may – without his influence.

Sandra you act like this was the only important task on his agenda, he has accomplished his major goal. f**k Chambliss and his votes, Barack is still the president and what he say goes. Barack knew GA was a red state anyway, they have more important matters to deal with. Them crackers still heated because he won the presidency.

So I suppose the weight of everything that goes wrong with the Democrats will fall on his shoulders. What good would going to GA do, in the presidential election the state didn’t even go to him, so how much would it have mattered? He is busy getting folks to run the country in Jan!!!!!

What?!!? Rudy Giuliani and John McCain did not come to Georgia to stomp for votes for Jim Martin!

And, although Mr. Obama didn’t come to Georgia, he did call me…tee hee…I also got calls from Bill Clinton and First-Lady-to-be Michelle. Ain’t I something…lol.

I really wish folks would stop with this whole “socialist agenda” B.S. just because an idea isn’t born from the same old, tired, out-dated, unintellectual, greedy aspirations of past legislature doesn’t mean it’s socialist. Yes – ppl fear change, but what better example than your own wallet that a change is needed?

I find it very difficult to believe that Republicans Rudy Giuliani and John McCain campaigned for a Democratic candidate. The Sentate is going to be just fine as is. Barack didn’t need to make an appearance for this one race when Democrats have already taken over the Senate and the House.

Chambliss won because Georgia has always (or damn near always) been a much dominated Republican State; PERIOD! Trust, Chambliss has been around a long time; he has a strong constituency base (much stronger than Martin) and did not need help from Palin. Chambliss already had those numbers; PALIZE!

Martin lost because he does not have a stronger constituency base than Chambliss. Obama did ok in Georgia but Georgia was never in play to swing Obama’s way. So why the hell would it swing in favor of Martin? DUH…

Frankly, a lot of people just didn’t care or were not motivated to vote last night so there it is. I am black and I voted for Martin pretty much knowing that he was not going to win but that didn’t deter me because I take my right to vote VERY seriously.

Thanks to this blog…I won a free lunch…because I made a bet that Auntie Sandra would say something “sideways” regarding Bubba’s win in Georgia…a southern state that still believes in lynchin’ Black folks…and where Black folks aren’t the majority…
