MTV Names Rihanna #8 On Bogus Woman of the Year List
MTV’s year end countdown to MTV News Woman of the Year is underway [LINK]. Rihanna, Britney and someone named Hayley Williams is in the top 6-10 list released today.
MTV will release names 2-5 tomorrow and the winner will be revealed on Thursday. MTV names Beyonce twice on the list as herself at #10 and ranking Sasha Fierce higher than Rihanna at #6 which makes no damn sense!
MTV must be sucking up to Matthew Knowles for that scathing article they wrote calling Bey boring [LINK].
Anyway, it’s obvious that Madonna will be named woman of the year. Congrats to our girl RiRi! She certainly deserves all the honors and accolades that has been heaped on her this year.
Rihanna’s fans know she deserves to be Woman of the Year as the leading industry trend setter in fashion and hair. MTV better recognize.

Wow. Now everyone is going to want an alto ego/double/split personality so they have a better change on getting on any list.
I am just wondering in the woman of the year award covers all bases. Things like Talent, stage presence, singing ability, performance. Everything can’t just be because you look good. If it’s only based on style and looks yeah Rhi-Rhi should win. But, if its more than one category she should come in 4th. Just a thought…..

I think she deserved to be higher, also. Beyonce just came back in November, she hasn’t really done anything yet. Let her have 2009.

Rhianna is gorgeous but that’s where the buck stops IMO, musically the only thing she did that I liked is that “Ricolo” inspired yodel she did on T.I.’s song

Did she flourish in every category? you must be honest with yourself when answering these questions. She OWN this Years STYLE and that’s all. Did you see her performance of rehab (dead and lifeless) people couldn’t wait for her to finish. But, as I always state she will get better with time if she last that long.

That was Candy Apple but she makes a great point. What has she contributed other than music? Being on the Woman of The Year list does not constitute jet setting and picking your boyfriends blackheads.
Like everyone else, I want to know what makes whoever wins the Women of the Year. Obviously, singing ability has nothing to do with it. Did anyone hear the young lady who won the X Factor Competition over in England? SHE has a great voice and I hope she makes it big in the states.
People are forgetting what real singing sounds like and sorry – Rihanna, as fly as her bags, hair and clothes may be – is not a great singer.

That’s not my point of view that is the view of most of the public. And most of those fan votes are rigged with money (pay up to stay up)…
Winning awards means nothing look at Britney she won 4 awards last year for her album Blackout with no promotion little air play and crazy hair cutting schemes. That says a lot about the popular vote. Its all rigged (sorry to tell you). Management pays for radio and video spins. Thats why a couple of months ago a report went out that Rhi-Rhi was low on funds. Really Britney is the POP Princess and she always will be… Rhi-Rhi’s management team built that up while Brit was down. Now don’t get me wrong I will give Rhi-Rhi props she did make a name for herself and she is very consistant with her appearance. I like her but she has to work on a few areas to continue in this game glitz and glam only last for so long.

The point I was making with the awards was that it was THE PEOPLE who voted for her. I don’t think the voting was rigged at all. I don’t think MJB fans were going to text in anyway so there wouldn’t any need to rig lol. If there was something to rig, it would be her album sales. It’s not past labels to buy up 100s of thousands of copies of albums.
Anyway, please take a peek at the link Sandra posted. It lists WHY she’s even on the list to begin with. HEADLINES.
And Britney or Madonna will be number 1 since Britney made a 180 this year and Madonna had one hell of a year herself.

I am a Rhi Rhi STAN and I like her music. She is not the best singer or performer by far but she makes great songs and has a FIERCE sense of style and SWAGGER. She is the IT girl for the moment. Everybodys 15mins of fame comes and goes and now is just her time. Beyawnce has had plenty of time in the limelight and is doing everything to stay relevant including this sasha fierece crap which doesn’t do it for me. Before the B stans put a hit out on me. I have all of DCs cds and two of Bs solo cds. She is a GREAT entertainer but I never thought she was the best singer or dancer (poppin n shaking is not dancing). Bird, I beg to differ on the Sasha Fierce comment. Have you been on Youtube? Have you seen the number of Single Ladies remakes? Have you seen the number of hits Single Ladies have? Skits? Sasha Fierce has followers = Shane Mercardo. Shane has been on national television doing the Single Ladies routine. Now why they seperated them, I don’t know, but she is doing it big, and she is staying at the top of the charts as well.

The video and dancing is so simple and basic its easy to remake. You can watch the video a few times and you have the whole routine, unlike Ciara who is a great dancer. Unless you are trained you can watch her video 101 times and you still won’t pick up half the steps. Ok, in reading the comments Rhi may be the “It Girl” for now. She is on the cover of every magazine, be it the ones I don’t read or “Vibe” with her and Chris that hubby subscribes to that came in the mail today. It does not mean she can sing or dance. Everything is rigged from videos to votes. Don’t let the media fool you into thinking these things are not rigged. Like I said you pay up to stay up. Stars pay for things such as:
A star on the walk of fame in Hollywierd
Oscar Nominations
Awards
Video airplay (spins)
Radio Airplay
Paparazzi photos (they give tips to the paps and share in the profit but if they want to rise they pay the paps to follow them)
Fans (yeah they pay people to stand outside and shout their name for attention)
Interviews (depending on the magazine and how big of a star they are…. The only person who won’t take the money is Oprah a spot on her show must be earned)
Nominations for award shows

Being a fan, any true fan knows who Sasha is, she isn’t new. She is only giving her some of the spotlight. She has said before that she did it for the fans. So I am assuming if you aren’t a fan you just wouldn’t understand. Yes, there are quite a few “kids” that remade the video but there are also young ladies or women.
