By the way, did you hear that Beyonce’s movie “Cadillac Records” came in at #9 at the box office after bringing in only $3.5 mil?

You can’t even call that a decent showing. More like a flop. Oh well, no Oscar for her.

they say that is good for 600 odd screens. but the one screen here in raleigh it was showing on was not sold out. not like it was for “dreamgirls” which also had a limited holiday opening. i’m just saying….

Notorious comes out in THEATERS in January, I saw the preview at the THEATERS while watching Cadillac Records, which is a good movie, especially if you are a true music fan. Bey did a good job playing Etta James, and the rest of the cast was on point as well. I don’t judge a movie by box office sells…

that’s unfortunate for beyonce cuz i hear this is her best work. alright, stop laughing. i know we don’t have a slew of great performances to compare it to.

i think she should pay her dues in the acting world, get some bit supporting roles and work her way up to leading lady. anything musically related, she’s cast to do it. i like her, but i’m not sure why. let the actresses do the acting.

she’s getting too many starring roles withouth having paid any dues, or receiving great training. to be an actor, you have to be in touch with ur emotions. if i look at the screen and can still see beyonce or still see your ‘celebrity,’ you’re not there yet. i’m not lost in ur work. no matter what role she’s in, i still see beyonce. i still see janet in all her roles too. they dont sound different, dialect aint different, etc. you’re not actresses. there, i said it.

i dont see latifah or the fresh prince. i see bonafide acting, and have to remind myself that these two used to be rappers first. believe it or not, i think rick fox does a great job acting also. i loved seeing him in that show ‘dirt’ taking the dildo up his sexy ass. HAWT.

@ # 9 when you mention still seeing them, I get your point – now all the films prior to this one to me weren’t good – she couldn’t act IMO – and YES I heart Bey but didn’t like her in anything except this movie. Ok wait I will admit I actually like the HIP HOPERA and she tried really hard in Dreamgirls.

The etta role is the best part she has played but I don’t think it’s gonna get her an oscar. I’ll give the girl her props but if she wants to be taken as a serious actress she needs to do roles outside the music box.

beyonce did a helluva job in that movie…and so did the other actors especially the muddy character…jeffery something. gabrielle was just gaberielle to me. just like angela bassett is the same in all of her movies. why they got he for this movie i don’t know…but i’m a big biggie, faith and lil’ kim fan so i can’t wait for this to come out on dvd or wherever.

the person who hates going to the movies with the urban crowd maybe means that the “black” movies sometimes open in the theaters in the hood (used to be like that here) and the movie goers are loud, ghetto, etc. be talking in the movie, done seen it before on bootleg or whatnot and be ruining it for everybody else. i know what he/she meant. don’t think it was meant in a bad way…idk?

Etta James didnt even want Beyonce to play her in the movie then they made her back track and be PC and clean up her original comments. B is a GREAT entertainer but SUCKS at acting. She doesnt seem comfortable or natural on the big screen. She does not have to be good at everything its ok the world won’t end..lol Also can you please tell your girl to lose the hump hair it’s so played and not the business.

I dont think it is the quality of the movie Cadillac records that caused the #9, people just have better things to do with $12 these days. Hell it costs us $30 bucks to go to the movies! I thin kshe will still be nominated because of the rave reviews she received about her performance. I seriously doubt Notorious is going str8 to DVD either, I hear it is also Oscar worthy.

we have here in raleigh….the 12 screen $1.50 movie. for all of the movies that been out for a while. for ex. “the family that preys” is there but prolly about to leave since i saw the dvd promo. the only downside is…the $1.50 movie be off the CHAIN. you gotta get there at least 1.5-2 hours before your movie starts. line be around the kona!

I was shocked to hear about Cadilac Records’ performance at the box office. That is horrible for B. I guess she ain’t meant to be a major movie star. She has no box office power to speak of. Hollywood is going to stop messing with her after a while.

I’m going to act like I didn’t just read that Boomerang was the worst movie somebody saw. Boomerang was a CLASSIC!

If Beyonce even gets a nomination this time real actors need to protest. After some many tries she finally gets it right. (Playing a singer no doubt).

I can’t wait to see this movie and after reading Faith’s book which I LOVED. Makes me want to see it even more.

Heard somebody say they was a Brandy Fan. She was on with Ed Lover & Free this morning. Her album is out TODAY. She gave a really good interview and she seems down to earth and has personality. I will be checking for her album. & I wish her lots of luck.

She even mentioned how she wants Monica to hurry up & drop her album so they can go on tour together. That would be amazing.

Brandy was a huge star back in her day. Acting (on point), singing (on point). Seems like some ppl should take notes. I’m just saying.
