2009 is just around the corner and it’s that time again to pick the VERY BEST of 2008.
Last year I got a lot of flack for my choice for Best Female Artist of the Year. So this year I’m going to let you vote for your choice for Best Female Artist of the Year.

This is hard, b/c I want to select my favorite artist on the list: Monica, but I don’t recall any music from her in 2008.
I selected Rih Rih b/c she was all over 2008 like FIRE!

Me and my friend are too In Too Deep….we had a baby in November, after 13 years of friendship for the first time I don’t see him the same anymore…Im scared to trust him, becuz I don’t want to play the fool for anybody, then I go back and forth with, but what if Im wrong and it really was meant to be…..Im just really confused about the whole situation and in the process Ive pushed him away to the point where he may be starting to feel like maybe it wasn’t? Its been so long since we’ve talked as friends (almost 6 months, now its all about the baby) I don’t even know how to get shyt right between us. Of course, Rhi-Rhi was everywhere, so I had to give her a break from this year. I x’d out everyone else on the list all except but KC. I had to give her my vote. She stepped her game up this year. Though her last album did not impressed me, I think she had a great year in ’08.
If I was voting on style it would be Rhi Rhi but since my vote is based on who’s CD I can actually listen to….it was a close call between KC (not the latest CD though) and J-Hud for me. Alicia came in 3rd.
I like Jazmine Sullivan but I wasn’t feeling her CD. Because Bey came out so late in the year, I couldn’t vote for her either.
o ok, for a minute I thought I had gone too far. Im glad there are people on here I can relate to, I can’t even tell my own friends that shyt, of course cause we’re ALL friends…so I wouldn’t want them clowning me about their homeboy and I tripping out. @ Daisy… We were platonic friends for 15 years and never took it there. I was in relationships and so was he. But over time, we both started growing up and I started seeing him for the great guy that he is.
I voted for Rihanna.
Rihanna can’t sing but I like her songs. She has had the most hit singles, no one knows why people don’t buy her album though, maybe b/c no one respects her as an artists. I guess she is just a mannequin who has some catchy tunes.

This is not the lifetime achievment awards. Although Mariah, Mary, Monica and Janet have had wonderful careers… they are not contenders for 2008. BUT I am ready for them to come with the fire in 09.
Although Rihanna is sexy as hell and provide great entertainment, is she really selling music and selling out any shows on her own, her stage presence is weak?
KeyCo – on her grind and have stepped up style, attitude, she’s expanding as an artist but weak in live performances.
JHUD – CD is BANGIN!!! Her year could have ended much better if it were not for her tragedy. I’ve heard that she sounds even better live.
BEYONCE – Strongest across the board… Filling stadiums, live performance, beautiful, despite this year’s thieving, she is a talented singer and writer.
Jazmine – CD is wonderful. Strong singer, strong writer . She even wrote for JHUD’s cd. She need more promotion.

@ Krysi… I don’t think there is a particular step that you need to do to make things better/ right between you and your friend. I do think that ya’ll need to talk though.

I’m a coward. I’m too chicken to even anonymously put my stuff out there it’s gotten so tangled this last few days but I’ll try.
Long story short:
We’re friends for 15 years and have even slept in the same bed but no haps.
A year ago, we started to become more than friends and started seeing each other exclusively.
A month ago, we had a slip up and I’m a few days late.
He’s 35 no kids and happy about it.
I’m a single parent, struggling and confused. Don’t want to take the test to find out for sure.

Now read over your advice and see if any of your own words is good advice for you
as for my opinion on your situation, even though you haven’t really told me you have any problems…take it from me, there is already so much love there, so don’t be afraid of that part. The confusion is the problem, because you’ve been friends for so long. THat alone can ruin the relationship, my advice is to just get it all out…you’ve been friends for so long the advantage you have is that comfort with each other. Before you even go into a relationship I say talk about everything all the possibilities, marriage, children, cheating, lying…ya know GOOD AND BAD. Swap scenarios make sure you are some what prepared for every situation. That way if you end up in my situation you won’t wonder what the solution to the problem is, you’ll already have an idea, and you won’t be afraid to go to each other and talk things out. I think I was so scarred from my first love, that regardless of how much love I already knew my friend and I had for each other, I couldn’t except the fact that it could be TRUE. I started to look at him like any other man, but at the same time I loved him like my best friend as always…I just wasn’t IN LOVE with him.”Just cuz I love you and you love me, that doesn’t mean that we’re meant to be.” However, we still moved forward…and we ended up her, barely speaking, with a beautiful daughter, and I don’t think neither one of us knows exactly whats going on. Girl, i love my friend but don’t think I want to marry him. Plus, he’s 3 hrs away so I would have to sell my home and move so we could be together (or vice versa)
This last year has been the hardest of my life b/c my child’s father has disappeared financially. Because of the economy, he took a huge hit and had to close his Real Estate Company and he is struggling.
As a result, my child and I are struggling. I’m supposed to go back to school in the fall to get my Master’s to try to do better by my baby that’s already here but i can’t see how that will happen living in a city by myself with no support system and a newborn baby.

I’m a coward. I’m too chicken to even anonymously put my stuff out there it’s gotten so tangled this last few days but I’ll try.
Long story short:
We’re friends for 15 years and have even slept in the same bed but no haps.
A year ago, we started to become more than friends and started seeing each other exclusively.
A month ago, we had a slip up and I’m a few days late.
He’s 35 no kids and happy about it.
I’m a single parent, struggling and confused. Don’t want to take the test to find out for sure.

you just gave me chills…we’re both 27 and I was in denial until March…chile had been pregnant since February. I too am a single mother for almost 8 years at that, and when I finally told him that I was, we both were in a state of shock at first, then we talked and couldn’t help but be excited about it. It almost felt RIGHT?? Then We had an incident happen between us, that I think changed our friendship forever…I was so upset about it I haven’t really spoken to him as a friend since. He apologized and I still couldn’t get over it. I love him and miss his friendship more than he will ever know

When we talk about the future he talks about a house and marriage. I have a house so I talk about my career, how I want to help counsel teenage girls and things like that. I am working on my MBA, I have 2 kids and I still have time for him so he sees it as me being perfect I see it as me knowing how to be flexible.
I have no idea. I will be in church tomorrow so I will pray for guidance.

Yeah, that shot was a killer, I must admit. Not for everyone, but it was fcr me. =) Maybe you should try Norplant, or the Nuvoring…the patch…that shyt is too important not to try and see, IMO. Forgive me, I am anti-breed, so I’m SERIOUS about that shyt. I intend to be the female Fort Knox…or Alcatraz…LMAO!! Not even getting into the moral issues, but hell, the money it takes to raise a child these days is redic!!! As you well know…=)

Girl, my 3 yr old daughter’s daycare is ridiculous. I know that prices are different according to where you live but her school is supposed to increase her tuition in April. It will go up to almost $700/ mo. When it does, she’ll be out of there. Like i said, i get no help. That doesn’t include insurance (which is also expensive), clothes, shoes, food, birthday parties (for all her little friends) and she’s asthmatic. I have two outstanding hospital bills now from where I had to rush her azz to the emergency room this year.
I’m not complaining about it cause i love her with all my heart. I’m just not in a hurry to have another one.
@daisy girl kc always fire, I love her new cd too, now i usually go thru a cd before i comment , and i didnt’ do that when i got that kc cd and I didn’t think i was going to like it cuz i was scanning thru but she didn’t let me down, that’s my girl and she is fire. I would have to agree that it’s been rhianna’s year, and beyonce is on the list what’s the deal with that.

Sheeez…I hear my kid-friendly friends complain about it all the time…it’s crazy!! I honestly couldn’t afford to have one, even if I wanted one…and I don’t even want to think about having to do it alone. =P That’s why I’m waiting to get my furkids! =) For your sake, I’m hoping you’re gonna get lucky this time…

Can I ask what is the big deal with Monica and Brandy? I mean I like them and all but their voices do nothing for me….nothin special about them and their songs are ok…they have some nice songs I really like but I just don’t see the big whoop either. They are good artist but no big deal to me. Not necc. entertaining.
