FanMAIL: Did Beyonce Volunteer?

Loyal reader Aikandy points out that while singer Usher worked his fingers to the bone volunteering at a school in one of D.C.’s poorest areas — Beyonce, predictably, didn’t volunteer for sh*t.

And before you say, ‘maybe they didn’t ask her to volunteer?‘ Since when does anyone with a kind heart have to be asked to volunteer?

Can you post something about that country bumpkin NOT volunteering?

On Nov 5, “I’m there. I can’t wait. I feel like all of us, we’re ready to do whatever we have to do. Whatever they want – if they need me to volunteer, they need me to sing, I’m there, and I’m ready,” a giddy Beyonce said in an interview the day after Barack Obama made history in becoming the nation’s first elected black president.

It looks like all she really wanted to do was “sang” and was unavailable for anything else. Usher put his time where his mouth was, volunteering at a school in SE DC – arguably the roughest part of the city – and from where I came. Go Usher. Go H.O.B.s.

Well. can’t say I blame her. Being honest, there ain’t too much I’d volunteer my time for either, unless it was in my community – as in same zip code/street.

nor did i see mjb, queen latifah, tiny, ti, jeezy, i can name a whole lot more but what she did do….she nailed that song for their first dance. Also, its obvious bey’s doing something right because the hate don’t stop. As a celebrity, you gotta be concerned when no one is hating on you but when they are hating….you’ve arrived..check out beyonceworld.net and view the video of the Pres. There are no needy people on Beyonce’s street. Most stars don’t live in poor areas. They have to branch out to volunteer. Either way, I’d rather just give Usher credit for what he did rather than drag down everyone who didn’t.

The way I read it is that she said she would volunteer and choose not too. I do not reacall anyone else saying that would do whatever needs to be done and said the word volunteer. No one else may have helped out but above it shows that she said she would

I was no Usher fan until now….the point of this “pointless post” was to say something meaninful when you speak – or have intention on following through.

I did volunteer….at the inuauguration ceremony, several of the service events, and on a regular basis around my city. I can ping you my info if you’re in the DC area and would like to get involved as well.
