Teen Killed Outside His Father’s Recording Studio

CORRECTION: I posted the incorrect photo of Russell Freeman. My apologies to the Freeman family and to Rocky of Streetcred.com.

Atlanta police are investigating the senseless murder of Adair Freeman (inset), who was gunned down outside his father’s recording studio early Saturday morning.

Police say someone shot the 19-year-old twice in the chest around 1:50 a.m. Saturday outside Hot Beats Recording studio as he made a run to the Shell station next door for a bag of ice.

The studio, located north of 14th St. at 1200 Spring St. NW, is owned by Russell Freeman, a well-known and respected businessman in the community (pictured above with recording artist T.I.).

Celebs such as Ludacris, Lil Wayne, Nelly, Bow Wow, Matchbox 20 and India Irie have all recorded tracks at Hot Beats.

Witnesses reported hearing four gunshots but no one saw the shooting. Freeman’s friends described him as quiet, friendly and easy to smile. According to WSBradio.com, several of Freeman’s friends got into a shouting match with cops at the scene of the shooting when they tried to cross the crime scene yellow tape to see what happened.

Police suspect Freeman may have been the victim of a random robbery attempt. They are asking nearby businesses for surveillance tapes in hopes of identifying the gunman.

Sign the Memorial guestbook for Adair Freeman (View).

The group Atlantans Together Against Crime and Cutbacks (ATACC), will hold a rally in Little 5 Points today (1/26) at 5 p.m. to build awareness to the growing threat of violent crime in our city.

My heart goes out to his family. It’s just so painful to see a parent nourn the loss of a child, it’s not the natural order of things to bury your baby.

Violent crime in this city is truly getting out of hand, and I anticipate it getting worse since they’re talking about cutting the police force even more

    Morning Fam!

Another senseless murder. Not that robbing somebody is right but why must it be taken to the next step of murder there is no coming back from death. So sad.

Morning Fam…hope everyone had a safe and pleasant weekend. You know, I moved from the hood in Brooklyn because I was too scared to raise my son there and thought ATL would be a much safer environment. I still find myself worrying everytime he leaves the house. Having a child is like having a piece of your heart walking around outside of your body. This young man was not bothering anybody but because someone else neglected to raise their child properly, these parents have to bury their son. When is it gonna stop?

    Daisy says:

Some parents do raise their children properly yet they still turn to the streets/drugs for whatever reason. Sometimes parenting or lack of is to blame but not all the time. I always felt so bad for Brian Nichols parents casue clearly they did not raise a murderer.

My prayers go out to the family of this young man.

I was reading yesterday about the arsonist that is setting fires in my neighborhood back home this has been going on since November, yesterday 15 houses burn to the ground. They are saying it is a gang initiation. I am so scared for my family back home I live in a small town 20 min. outside of Philly (Coatesville). Our black communities are in a state of emergency. Here is the article if you would like to read it. http://www.dailylocal.com

Sandra, not to make light of a sad situation..

But is Obama some how tied to this? He seem to be linked to all stupidity and senslessness that’s happening in our country.

@Daisy, I agree to an extent with what you said. As far as Brian, he has emotional problems and that is a whole different matter. His brother Mark is not a murderer, but he himself will tell you that Brian was always a little off, and somewhat anti-social. Parents have to accept some responsibility for their children’s behavior. If the law says you are legally responsible for them until a certain age, then society should be able to hold you accountable as well. Of course you can not be with or moniter your kids 24 hours a day, but if you raise them with a conscience, and some sense of right and wrong, the odds are greater that they will not fall victim to a lot of the pitfalls that lead children awry.

@BK I still dont blame Brians parents. You have plenty of kids who may have been a “lil” off or anti social they dont end up raping or killing anybody. So again I say IMO sometimes its the parents and other times its not. Each case is different.

@uptopgrl, our young black men have a social problem.

That is so phucking sad, scary and heartbreaking. I pray so much for our youth. My son wants to be a music producer, and wants to go to school in ATL and hopefully intern where he can at top studios. That coulda been him. Dayummmmmmmmmm.

Sandra can you stop with all these depressing death posts. You are soooooooooooooooooo bringing me down.
