As much Punnany they talk about in their songs. They need to ban their own sh!t

Also @ LovelyLady. Yeah you should have said that when all these spelman tricks trying to protest Nelly and Tip Drill. and all these chicks that have a problem with rappers portaying women as a penis repository they all need to STFD and STFU. If the girls wanna do it for the videos then let them do it. Its nothin

I guess its never too late. I think its a step in the right direction, that may actually boost album sales. I grew up during the time all you heard was Run DMC, Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince and LL Cool J during the day time and it was song a piece not a billion a day. Everything else came on after 9pm on Friday and I lived in Philly.

We need to get back to decency and discretion. And parents need to teach their children, that's the main problem. Yeah I knew the words to 2

Shauny I agree, it's not just hip hop that's producing garbage and all forms of crap should be removed or at the very least limited, no matter the genre.

You can compare what you listened to growing up and say you turned out just fine, but you have to admit that these are different times. I'm assuming you're in your late twenties like I am and grew up in the mid-late 90's like I did. Yes we had some garbage out then too, but dare I say that wasn't all that was being produced then and that allowed for a modicum of balance in entertainment. If you listened to your radio circa 1995 for one hour and listened to your radio for one hour now, I'm sure you can admit that the music, lyrics, messages and accompanying images have degenerated and become unimaginative and downright vulgar.

Whereas in 1999, innuendo was used and girls in booty shorts in videos were considered pushing the envelope, now just 10 years later, music videos and the songs are more graphic than some soft core porn. I remember being in high school and oral sex was a big deal and outside of lil' kim alluding to it and the odd rapper here and there mentioning it, we weren't exposed to it, now turn on 106&Park and see how many times the act is referenced or simulated.

I also agree that ultimately it's parents that have to parent (action verb) their children and raise (another action verb) them; however parents need as much help as they can get. If you're a parent, I'm sure you know how impossible it is to raise your child in the bubble that you try to create, because as soon as they're out of your sight you really have no control over what they're exposed to.

I don't know why I just wrote this thesis, but i'm sick of the indecency assaulting me over the airwaves, and to think that children are being fed a steady diet of the crap annoys me.

Karaz I have to agree with you 100% but I also see shauny's point as well. I came form the PJ's listened to a lot of the music that would probably be banned and I came out alright. This was due to my parents or more specifically my father.

However most children in African American or minority households do not have two parents and even if they do they are always working to make a better life for their children. So in effect music, musics videos, video games and movies are what's raising the kids. If this negative music (which would include the rock music telling kids to slit their wrists) is banned and replaced with productive positive music it could have a positive impact on the behavior/attitude to the children who are parenting themselves. That's just my two cents anyway.
