PICS: 81st Annual Academy Awards
This is my only post with pictures from last night’s Oscars telecast because I’m sure you’ve seen them all already on other blogs.
I’ll just post the obvious ones that if I don’t post will result in the inevitable “why haven’t you posted” emails. We begin with the obligatory Beyonce photos from her lip sync performance with Hugh Jackman (pardon me while I stifle a yawn).
Taraji P. Henson lost the Best Supporting actress nod to Penelope Cruz, who used to model for Sean Jean Women. Unfortunately for Taraji (and Viola Davis), Barack Obama ruined her chances to win. In fact, blacks were shut out of the Oscars this year. I can guarantee you it would have been different had Obama not won the election. But he did win, so now the Token black quota for any prestigious honor is filled for at least the next 4 years. But at least Taraji’s name is firmly affixed to the Hollywood A-list, which is the important thing!
Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith don’t get enough props for being the hawtest black couple in Hollywood. Jada wore the hail out of this Robert Cavalli white beaded over-the-shoulder gown at the Vanity Fair After Oscar Party last night!
Oscar winner Halle Berry looked gorgeous in this gold on black embroidered gown, but nothing can top the gown she wore to the ESSENCE Black Women in Hollywood Luncheon last week.
At first glance I thought this was Beyonce wearing the same fuchsia gown she wore last week to something or other. Tanika Ray did her best Bey impression last night at the Vanity Fair After Oscar party. Who is Tanika Ray and how did she get an invite into this A-list-only party?
Alicia Keys, who like Beyonce, will never be considered for an Oscar for acting in her lifetime, showed up at the Vanity Fair After Oscar party with a white boy on her arm. I guess Alicia said she would show y’all after that public drubbing you gave her over that Mashonda/ Swizz Beatz mess.
Penelope Cruz walked away with Taraji Henson’s Oscar for Best Supporting actress last night — and we all hate her for that. We also hate this gown she wore to the Vanity Fair After Oscar party. Normally you can’t go wrong in white, but Penelope managed to do it.
Actress Viola Davis showed up with her man at the Vanity Fair party last night. Her gold dress would have been perfect if not for that distracting brown mop on her head.
Everyone raved about Freida Pinto’s blue embroidered gown, but I thought it was ghastly looking – especially that one sheer embroidered sleeve. They should have just knocked it out with both sleeves or no sleeves. But what do I know about fashion.

Tanika looks a hot mess – all that boobage hanging out was not cute. Alicia’s dress is pretty but that hair and make up…lawd….Freida’s dress would have been ok if it wasn’t for that sleeve..viola looked pretty but would have looked stunning with an up do..Loving jada’s dress.
I only watch to see if Tariji was gonna win and she didnt but she look gorgeous.. I couldnt watch that Hot Azz mess, Bee should of stayed home I swear that slow country bumpkin look confused while she was performing…
what in the heck does obama have to do with the black people being shut out of the oscars ? they have been shutting black people out for years . this year is no different . lmao
AKeys may not Oscar worthy Sandra but umm she can act better than Beyonce..lol She is the worst! Akeys dress is lovely as well. I likes.
Halles dress was ugly which is rare for her.
Jada’s dress is nice. Love her and Will.
Taraiji party dress is better than her Oscar gown.

I wouldn’t say there was a whitewash. Slumdog Millionaire is not white and they cleaned up. As for Taraji’s permanent A List status, that remains to be seen. I don’t think there are any stars out there who only play in all black movies that can be considered A List. Lets see if she keeps getting those “mainstream” roles. Then we’ll really know what Hollyweird thinks of her. Her outfit wasn’t knocking my socks off.
I got a BED SPREAD that looks exactly like BEYONCE dress I wonder if they got it from TARGET too and turned it into her gown.

I tuned into this when P. Cruz was giving her speech.. Woo is me. I didn’t know she had beat out Tarajii.. Got caught watching this boring mess for nothing.
Bey was okay. I was watching thinking even with that mediocre album this chick is still dominating. I honestly think this is Bey”s last year at the top…. that is unless she drops an album that is just off d hook.

yeah, I saw the spoiler and I also read the book many years ago actually when it came out and at that point I was hoping this will turn into a movie and years down the line it did. So I cant wait to see and yes Monique transformed heself & Mariah Carey surprisley too. Im still waiting on True to game & Coldest Winter to be made into movies too…
@ daisy i saw the preview of Precious when my sister and i went to see madea goes to jail yesterday. i believe they said it will be released in the spring . i can’t remember because i was too busy arguing with my sister about the dark haired white lady being mariah . lmao
why was Bey wearing curtain materials to the Oscars. House of Dereon is a complete joke, even the white commentators make fun of it

I forgot to comment on Will and Jada. I love them as a couple. They don’t need any props on being the power couple. That’s how you know they are. They don’t hide there love and they both stay true to themself and they both seem to maintain a human quality even though Will is at the top of the food chain in Hollyweird.
Tarjii dress is a mess.
Maybe if she had slutted her self out….she probably would have won…….

Quite frankly…considering the “Oscar curse” when actors when a “supporting Oscar” (they seem to NEVER work in anything high profile again…with a few exceptions)…I’m not upset Taraji didn’t win…since I have seen every movie that was nominated for a major award this year…and I mean…EVERY ONE OF THEM…I was hoping Viola Davis would win…because she KILLED it in “Doubt”…
But of course, this has NOTHING to do with Obama…everyone who was nominated was deserving…I mean…if that’s the case…let’s just retroactively blame Obama for EVERYTHANG regarding Blacks through the history of the world…because we’ve been getting the short end for quite a while…
