Madoff Led Away in Handcuffs

Disgraced Wall Street financier Bernie Madoff, 70, was led away in handcuffs today after pleading guilty to 11 felony charges in Manhattan federal court.

Madoff, who swindled wealthy clients such as Chris Lighty and 50 Cent out of a total of $65 billion, confessed his elaborate Ponzi scheme to his son 3 months ago.

U.S. District Judge Denny Chin ordered that Madoff be jailed while he awaits sentencing on June 16.

Madoff had been free on $10 million bail and living it up on house arrest in his $7 million penthouse. He faces up to 150 years in prison when sentenced, and will likely die behind bars.

Hello all. Ohhhhh but they can jail our brothers for yrs and yrs and yrs for trying to make a dollar on the corner selling drugs but this man? He can make a $10 million bail for stealing 80 billion over a 25 yr period and he’s just getting caught?! Double standards, how I loathe double standards.

PS I know a guy I went to high school with, back in the 70s, and he got caught for drugs and gun-running and he’s still serving time. Mine you, he didn’t kill anyone. Does it take almost 40 years to rehabilitate someone for selling drugs? The whole justice system is fuched up, period. Cigarettes and alcohol will remain legal. How many people have died from smoking pot? NONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You do the math. I’m just saying, from one head to another. Peace.

They should divvy up all of his assets and distribute them amongst all those he’s schemed – even if it results in everyone getting one dollar. At least he would have made some attempt to pay people back! Didn’t Kevin Bacon and his wife get ripped of all their savings behind this guy? I remember someone saying that they had nothing but what was in their immediate accounts – all life savings were GONE!

on the flip side, if this cracka would have ripped off some poor folk hoping to get rich, NOTHING WOULD HAVE HAPPENED AT ALL!

good thing i didnt invest my $28.39, those folks who got swindled just got greedy. if you only invested 100k and got 100 MILLION in returns within 4 months why would you let him keep ALL the “profit” thinking you gonna flip it into 200 million? phks that, i wouldve took the “profit” and kept some in the same pot and spread the rest to another investor! dont put ur eggs in one basket!
