From AFP:

A gimmicky snack bearing a caricature of US President Barack Obama making a peace sign has gone on sale in Indonesia, but worried consumer activists are already calling for it to be banned. The "Obama" snack packet shows a grinning Obama making a peace sign with his right hand and spinning the globe like a basketball on the fingers of his left hand.

Yes, but are the snacks tasty?

A massive manhunt is underway in Cleveland, Ohio for the coward who shot and killed his new wife of four days then turned the gun on 4 children, killing 3. The surviving child, a 12-year-old boy, is in critical condition. Two of the dead children are twin boys.

Davon Crawford's wife, Lechea Crawford, 30, reportedly sent a text message to her father about one hour before the shootings: "Call me, live your life, love it." That was the last thing she would say to him.

Crawford, 33, is accused of gunning down his wife, her sister Rose Stevens, 25; and three of Stevens' children: Destiny Woods, 5, and Dion and Davion Primm, 2-year-old twin boys, CNN affiliate WKYC reported.

Asked what led to the shooting, Police Chief Michael McGrath said, "it looks like it was some type of domestic argument that sparked this tragedy." LINK

Comments Off on Dr. Sanjay Gupta to Obama: ‘No thanks, I’ll pass’

CNN's medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta withdrew his name from consideration as Surgeon General yesterday.

CNN medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta withdrew Thursday from consideration to be the next surgeon general, with the network and Obama administration officials attributing his decision to professional and family reasons amid a campaign by some liberal interest groups to block his selection.

CNN reported that Gupta, a neurosurgeon, decided to withdraw so that he could continue to practice medicine, work as a journalist and spend more time with his family.

Administration officials cited the same reasons.

"Sanjay Gupta was under serious consideration for the job of surgeon general. He has removed himself from consideration to focus more on his medical career and his family," said an Obama administration official who was not authorized to discuss the matter publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity.

Dr. Gupta's name is added to the growing list of potential candidates who have declined positions within the Obama administration.

In addition to his work on CNN, Dr. Gupta also maintains a private practice and performs surgery at Atlanta's Grady hospital.

Oprah Winfrey is notorious for hogging the covers of her magazine "O" for herself or her spoiled dogs. But she finally shares this month's issue with another human being, First Lady Michelle Obama.

The cover was taken when Oprah visited the Obama's new digs in D.C. recently. There were rumors that Michelle was salty with Oprah for claiming Barack Obama's victory in the elections was all her doing. But we know Michelle has more sense than to be that catty.

Here's what Michelle said about her new crib:

"It's a beautiful home," Michelle tells Oprah of her new digs. "When you go out and come back, especially at night, with all the white lights on – it's just beautiful. We feel privileged, and we feel a responsibility to make it feel like the people's house. We have the good fortune of being able to sleep here, but this house belongs to America."
The new issue of Oprah Winfrey's magazine has double the"O" factor – Michelle Obama joins the daytime diva on the cover of O in April, a joint venture that's a first for the mag. LINK

Just yesterday I was going on about how the First Daughters Malia and Sasha are too old to be swinging on a jungle gym set.

Well, the White House released a photo of the girls enjoying the jungle gym set along with the First Lady! Isn't she the coolest?

Laura Bush would never do that.

We LOVE Malia's stylish ugg boots. And it looks like they finally bought Sasha a new Winter coat. I felt so sorry for lil mama wearing the same coat every day, was going to go buy her a new one myself.

CNN finally canceled the wack show that nobody watched. I don't think there's ever been a more unfunny "comedian" than D.L. Hughley, but Chris Rock is a close second.

Every blog took a shot at DL Hughley, but cityfile.com put it best:

Comedian D.L. Hughley was pummeled by critics when his weekend talk show debuted on CNN last fall. "What the hell was CNN thinking?" a columnist for AdAge asked after watching the first episode. It remains unclear what was running through the minds of CNN execs when they signed him up for the spectacularly unfunny program featuring painfully awkward interviews. But the network may have come to its senses or at least decided to cut its losses. A source tells us that CNN has decided to cancel the show due to "budgetary constraints."

Bye D.L.! You won't be missed!

Loyal member Ckarinwhite dedicated this Throwback song to woman beater Chris Brown and his girlfriend Rihanna, who suffers from battered woman syndrome.

IMO Chrianna is the most dysfunctional relationship in Hollywood since Ike & Tina Turner. If their camps have any hope of reviving their careers they will break up this toxic union. Both Rihanna and Chris are sick individuals who need help understanding why they seek unhealthy partners.

I didn't know that the toys packaged in Happy Meals were collectible items. Dang, people will collect anything. As many Happy Meals as we consume, we could all be rich!

From the Daily Mail:

An 11-year-old boy was more than $11,500 richer today after his collection of memorabilia from fast food chain McDonald's went under the hammer.

Luke Underwood's massive collection of 7,000 promotional items is believed to be the largest of its kind in the UK and attracted bidders from all over the world.

The rare Mcmemorabilia featured the only known complete set of the 101 Dalmations in their original bags, as well as hundreds of Happy Meal boxes, toys and posters.

A nervous Chris Brown appeared in a L.A. courtroom yesterday where he was shocked to learn that his judge was a black female. His attorney Mark Geragos hastily requested a continuance until April 6 so they could work out a strategy on how to deal with this newest development. We are wholly confident that despite his attorney's ministrations -- the judge will put the smack down on Chris Brown's ass on April 6th.

Socialite Kim Kardashian was spotted shopping in Beverly Hills yesterday doing normal every day things like getting her shoes repaired and picking up bargains at Old Navy. As you can tell by the banners on this site, the new season of Keeping Up With The Kardashians kicks off this Sunday (3/8) at 10 p.m. I heard that the Kardashian sisters personally requested this blog to promote their show, but we don't know how true that is.

A loyal reader sent me this cover of today's NY Post featuring a shook Chris Brown in a L.A. courthouse yesterday. As you know, Brown was there to face an arraignment on two felony charges stemming from his assault on pop singer Rihanna last month.

I don't know if this is a real cover or not, but it is appropriate considering the fact that the judge handling Chris Brown's case is a black female who takes no mess! I understand that bitch-boy's attorney Mark Geragos took one look at the sister on the bench and hastily requested a continuance until April 6 so his legal team could regroup and figure out how to handle this newest development.

The continuance was granted, but not before the judge warned the bitch not to "annoy, harass, molest, threaten or use force or violence against anyone."
