Cancer stricken British reality star Jade Goody went home from the hospital yesterday to spend her final days surrounded by her loved ones. This is a sad story, and one that has played itself out in British tv, tabloids and newspapers. Jade was the most famous housemate in 2002’s Big Brother reality series in England. In January, 2007, she made news in America after being evicted from the “Big Brother” house for bullying an Indian housemate and making racist remarks towards her.

Jade went on to capitalize on her fame by selling fitness videos and Jade Goody perfume. In 2008, she was diagnosed with cervical cancer which metastasized (spread) to other organs in her body. She married her fiance Jack Tweed on Feb. 22, 2009 and was Christened along with her two sons in the hospital chapel last week. On Mar. 7, a deranged woman entered Jade’s private hospital room wielding a hammer. The woman was arrested and remains in custody.

Pulitzer-prize winning author Alice Walker, who turned 65 on Feb. 9, sat down for an interview with the Associated Press in Gaza City, Tuesday, March 10, 2009.
