T.I.’s Bodyguard Receives the Same Sentence As T.I. (Coincidence?)

Rapper T.I.’s former bodyguard, who some believe was a federal plant, has been sentenced to a year in prison for his part in the illegal gun possession case that T.I. was convicted of and received a similar one-year sentence for

The Live Your Life hitmaker, real name Clifford Harris, Jr., has been ordered to report to Georgia authorities by 19 May (09) to begin his sentence after he was found guilty of possessing illegal firearms. The punishment stems from his 2007 arrest, when he was caught attempting to buy an array of weapons from an undercover FBI officer.

Corey Williams, who began working for the star in July 2007, had purchased illegal guns on behalf of Harris, who is barred from obtaining any due to previous criminal convictions. Williams was arrested in October 2007 and allegedly worked with police to obtain evidence to convict his former boss, according to the Smoking Gun.

He has now received a sentence of one year and a day behind bars following a plea deal. Source

The thing I didn’t like that TI said in the Road to Redemption interview about this whole thing was his reasoning behind his light sentence.

My understanding from what he said was that he was given his lighter sentence because with his money and resources he could actually make a difference in someone else’s life while Joe Blow with the public defender and paycheck money (my words not his, but he said a regular guy with the same charges) couldn’t do what he could do so his sentence was fair. That’a a crock of doo doo.

You do not have to be this powerful person with tons of money to be able to put someone on a positive path. It’s been done long before we’d even heard of TI. There are countless programs where ex convicts are working hard to make sure someone else doesn’t go down the wrong path. Money doesn’t determine that, your passion for the cause does. He still made me like him from this show though, I was just a bit disappointed with his response to that question.

yea shauny i peeped that and i agree wit u. we all know dmn well he only got a year cuz he’s a celebrity and now they pushed back his sentence..yea right and isnt his “community service” goin towards his time in jail? he aint serving shyt. he’s gonna be even more popular in jail so it’ll be some reason he cant do his time. i guess mike vick aint have the right lawyers either!! i can remember Scared Straight programs in the 70′s. i think its great what he’s doing but joe blow wit a “regular paycheck” can do the same thing!
