How do you go from winning American Idol, signing a major record deal and selling millions of records to almost losing BOTH of your cribs and you're still under age 25???

I could see if Fantasia was a broke 45-year-old toothless has-been singer like Beyonce soon will be. Fantasia needs to be beat hard with a common sense stick! Even if there was a man involved and she was supporting him and bought his baby mama a car and paid his child support. She still should have a little something left over if she was investing her money right.

The "American Idol" winner says she was just a day away from losing both of the south Charlotte homes she owns.

"I put my life in other people's hands that didn't quite take care of it like I would have," she said.

She says she always had the money, and when a judge realized that the near foreclosures -- and the people she used to have working for her -- went away.

"I put my trust in other men -- people that said they cared about me, that they said they loved me, that they would do anything for me," Barrino said. "I felt like all I had to do was get the mike, get on the stage and sing and everything else behind me would be taken care of but it didn't happen that way."

Now, she says, it's about moving on.

"I'm excited to be back. It's been a long time coming," she said. READ MORE...

the same way reuben studdard did. only diff. is she did not marry a girl from the tip drill video and make her into a housewife.

ok granted fanny made a few mistakes. she'll be alright in the end cause she got God and talent.

    nc stand up!

that was uncalled for and a lil catty don't chu think sandra?

cause we all know beyaki will never be toothless.

I can see how this could happen. She stepped into a world that she didn't know a lot about (the music biz). Like you so nicely pointed out she is under 25. She is still young & without the right guidance its easy to get caught up. That's why its called learning from your mistakes. She'll know better next time.

I swear I'm going to google mom delivers a full grown, well rounded, knows all the rights and wrongs of the world daughter, and see if your name come up.

You can pay your mortgage through your mortgage company's website. Why do you need a third party to pay your mortgage?

I could never understand why people place their day to day financial matters in the hands of other people. I think this is and age old Hollywood excuse. You know just like when they get divorced and they say "irreconcilable differences". By nature Black people just aren't too trusting when it comes to their money so bullshit if you think I believe you gave someone else carte blanche authority over your own money. Even Oprah says she signs each and every check. Why not own up to it and say you got in over your head and spent way too much money trying to floss and do things for hangers on and family members? Own up to your mistakes, get some financial counseling and be a fiscal role model for eithers.

  • Anna

This can happen to anyone that is too trusting. Fanny like most did her job, collected her money and spent/gave away her money. I bet she had more friends than she knew what to do with after winning Idol. Some ppl don't think to keep tabs on their own money.

how do u become a singer in this day and age and not know u can't put trust in everyone? Her ignorance of EVERTHING is unsettling talent or not..I don't feel sorry for fools..it's too much information out there about the sharks in this business for her not to know better

  • Made4Success

Dag, and I thought Aretha was her mentor. Didn't she teach Fanny the pitfalls of fame and fortune? Guess not.

  • Naima

Thats dress does look a little non designer. Thats something I would totally wear, but I admit I am a cheapo. I go to TJ Maxx and Marshalls, department stores or no friends of mine

Does Aretha have any money left. I saw her getting on a tour bus going to the casion with the rest of them who paid their way for the trip. LOL.

  • pointhimout

im starting to appreciate her looking the fool all the time. it lets me know she's comfortable in her own skin. she'll be ok cuz to some people, not me, she can sing. when you're likeable, it takes you a long way. good for fantasia.

something tells me beyonce will never be broke. matthew saw to that years ago.

  • Krysi J

Fantasia, ain got no money problems(psssh).....yall got it all wrong....pLEAse do not listen to Sandra. She over exaggerates entirely TOO too much!

I actually saw this interview or one very similar on the local news here in Charlotte. Fantasia came off as a little slow which I never really noticed before. If she really is slow she doesn't stand a chance in the entertainment industry. Of course being highly unreliable in The Color Purple couldn't have helped her much fincially short term or long term.

  • Kymystry

well .. Im in the minority .. I don't care for her voice at all ... she was featured on one of my FAV Gospel songs... with Richard Smallwood ... "My Everything" ... when she started screeching and I was PISSED and turned the radio OFF !!

  • sanaas
  • Shauny

Kym - I don't feel Fanny all of the time either. I hate the screeching.

  • sanaas

    -------
Fantasia had a throat tumor towards the end of her run thats why she took so much time off.

I thought she came off in the interview as very sincere and it was heartfelt.

  • Daisy

Well yall know I love Tasia screeching and all and she got PAID to return to the color purple she said that on an rickey smileys morning show

Bird you know Tasia is just country you live n NC you know ppl can be slow at times and she had prolems reading

  • tintin

Beyonce can never go broke. if she did, it's cause she's an idiot. even if she becomes a has-been ther is no way.
