I’m mad that I missed this performance of two of R&B’s premiere artists, Keyshia Cole and Monica. Keyshia sounded a little shaky in the beginning but she pulled it out (was she nervous?)

I love love KC…just went to her concert, but there is absolutely NO COMPARISON to Monica. Jamie Foxx said it best, there is no other like MOnica..Yes Beyonce is extremely POLISHED and PUT TOGETHER, but Mo is that RAW TALENT>..HANDS down..She can just SANG and has stage presence out the a$$!!!
So ready for Mo to return…the stars are aligning for her…this is her year..She just bet not disapoint with the music cuz people are FEELIN MOnica now..more than they ever have and I been a fan since 95

I think it is horrible that Monica has yet to find the production team to give her the music that would propel her to superstardom. It’s ridiculous that her career has not taken off in all these years.

Monica is caught up in the horrors of modern day music business…today’s music business dosen’t try to SUSTAIN R&B acts…But what I have ALWAYS liked and admired about Monica is that she makes sure she stays RELEVANT!!!

He voiced a character in a mental institution in the Stark Raving Dad episode, which aired in 1991, but, because of a contractual problem, Jackson had to be credited as John Jay Smith. when i use to watch this show for years i always remember seeing the name :JOHN JAY SMITH in the credits ..so i think he had more to do with the show then what is said above

Nothing is wrong with Monica’s music, her songs are great for her voice, she’s done some great material over the years, it’s her personal stuff that’s hard to package into the right image… i mean the baby mamma with a possible dope boy boyfriend in an endless engagement, with an ex in jail for murder and another one committing suicide in front of you and throws parties in strip clubs, how do you sell that?
@Bird I don’t think Monica wants to or should crossover and blow up so to speak. Everybody aint able and shouldnt have that as a goal. She can stand to blow up a little more on the r&b side but I LOVED her last cd makings of me. She has always been one of my FAV singers! Raw talent indeed. So glad Jamie blew her up on the post show. I hope they do a song together.

Monica acts better than Aaliyah did. When it comes to plain old singing, she can beat Beyonce (and her theatrics and wind blowing in her hair) so she doesn’t need to dance. And who is Keyshia?
I didn’t say Monica needs to cross over nor do I think she should. Mary J and Keyshia (to a lesser extent) are successful R&B artists who have not crossed over. Not everyone wants or needs to be Beyonce. Monica has not even reached Keyshia’s level yet. Hell, she ain’t even messing with the Hilson chick at this point. That is what I mean. For me personally, I have two Monica CD’s in my collection and for the most part I am not feeling them and clearly I am in the majority if her record sales are any indication.
She needs music that most R&B fans can love. This cult follwoing is not helping her.

Keyshia needs a reputable stylist? is she trusting tina knowles or something? the video did not do this song justice. her outfit at BET was too bargain basement.
