An attorney for Dr. Conrad Robert Murray, a cardiologist who was with Michael Jackson when he died, appeared on CNN last night to respond to questions surrounding his client's bizarre behavior in the hours before and after Jackson's death.
Murray's attorney, Edward Chernoff, told CNN that the delay in calling paramedics after Jackson was found unconscious was due to all the landlines in Jackson's rented Holmby Hills mansion being "shut down" for "privacy reasons," and Murray didn't use his cell phone because he didn't know Jackson's address.
Chernoff claims Murray scrambled around for 30 minutes searching for a working phone after finding Jackson unconscious with a weak pulse in his bedroom.
Chernoff claims Murray called out for help but got no response from security. After 30 minutes, Murray raced downstairs and asked the chef to call 911. "This entire time, with the exception of him running downstairs, he was performing CPR on Michael Jackson," Edward Chernoff, the lawyer, told CNN.
When asked why Murray performed CPR on Jackson while the King of Pop lay in bed rather than on a hard surface such as the floor, Chernoff responded the bed "was firm."
Hospital beds are firm as well. But medical personnel are trained to use either a solid surface such as a back board or the removable head board of the hospital bed.
Jackson's family members told TMZ.com that Murray injected Jackson with Demerol at 11:30am about an hour before paramedics were called. But Murray denies injecting Jackson with Demerol.
Jackson's toxicology results should be back by now. Blood test results are usually available within a week or less, especially if the tests are expedited. The toxicology report can take 4-6 weeks.
If the test results are in, the coroner's office has a better idea which medications were in Jackson's system when he died.
This could explain why the L.A. police returned to Jackson's rented home on Monday (6/29) in search of more medications and evidence. The police probably carried a list of medications provided to them by the coroner's office.
If those meds aren't found in the home then it can be assumed that the doctor spent those 30 minutes or so "cleaning up" the scene prior to calling paramedics.
According to online reports, grief-stricken hard core Michael Jackson fans are taking their own lives. At least 12 fans have reportedly committed suicide across Europe:
Gary Taylor, president and owner of MJJcommunity.com, says, "I know there has been an increase (in deaths), I now believe the figure is 12. It is a serious situation that these people are going through but Michael Jackson would never want this. He would want them to live.
"They (fans) can't accept it, they feel in some sort of different reality. I'm stunned that he's dead. One minute he is coming here for concerts and the next he is gone. I think the funeral will be where the reality kicks in that he is gone and won't be coming back, there will be a huge depression in the fan community when that happens."
And Jackson's political activist pal Reverend Jesse Jackson has even recorded a message to his fans, urging them not to "self-destruct" in the wake of the singer's demise.
Jesse Jackson says, "This is a time when hearts are heavy. There is great pain but great cause to celebrate Michael's life. It made Michael happy saying 'We Are The World'. Don't self-destruct. We fall down sometimes, we get back up. That's the right thing to do. In Michael's name let's live together as brothers and sisters and not die apart as fools."
Thousands of Jackson fans are planning a vigil on 13 July (09) at the O2 Arena in London where the star was due to kick off his 50-date comeback tour.
I lOVE Rihanna in white! White is definitely her color! Not because it makes her look virginal (we know she's a freak!). But because the color white makes her positively glow and brings out her otherworldly beauty.
Her orange bra adds a little splash of color that pulls the viewer's eye in. Rihanna knows how to draw attention to herself in subtle ways -- unlike Beyonce.
RiRi was spotted lunching at Phillipe Chow in NYC today with her HLF, Melissa.
OxiClean pitchman Billy Mays passed away yesterday morning. His body was found by his wife on the floor of their Tampa, Florida home. Mays was 50.
Autopsy results shows Mays had heart disease, which likely contributed to his death. Mays did not suffer an injury to his head during a rough landing on a commercial airliner over the weekend as some had speculated.
Hillsborough County Medical Examiner Vernard Adams said Mays "had an enlarged heart," a thickening of the heart muscle of the ventricle, the largest chamber in the heart which pumps blood out to the body and lungs. (Source)
I wonder if people will now say death comes in fours?
Michael Jackson's father suggested that he may have neglected the three children he raised as his own.
During a pointless and disorganized press conference today, Joe Jackson told reporters that Michael's three children were "happy" now that they had other children to play with.
Joe told the assembled reporters that the three children -- Prince Michael, 13, Paris Michael Katherine Jackson, 11 and Prince Michael II, aka "Blanket," 7 -- were excited to finally have other children their age to play with back at the Jackson estate in Encino, California.
Joe suggested that Michael isolated the children away from other kids their age. Which is sad when you consider that Michael spent his adult life trying to reclaim his own supposed lost childhood.
A California judge today granted Katherine Jackson's petition for temporary custody of the three children her late son, pop icon Michael Jackson, raised as his own.
Jackson's ex-wife Debbie Rowe, biological mother of the two eldest children, was served with a notice. A hearing is set for next Monday, according to TMZ.com.
The petition stated Debbie Rowe had no relationship with the children.
Meanwhile, a lawyer who was terminated from Jackson's employ in 2006, suddenly popped back up three weeks ago. Attorney John Branca claims to be in possession of Jackson's last will and testament, and he plans to file the will in court in 30 days.
According to TMZ.com, Jackson's parents Katherine and Joseph Jackson aren't aware of any such will. Katherine filed a petition to be named administrator of Jackson's estate. In the petition, Katherine Jackson stated her son had no will.
These images were taken of a pale and gaunt Michael Jackson on June 23, 2009 at the Staples Center during rehearsals for his upcoming 50-date concert engagement at the 02 Arena in London.
The concerts were set to begin on July 13 and last through the beginning of March 2010.
But Jackson's friends doubt he would have lasted that long. They say Jackson hired a personal physician, Dr. Conrad Murray of Las Vegas, just two weeks before he was to leave for London to provide him with prescription drugs -- and eventually, an excuse to bail out on the concerts series early.
Jackson was in no physical shape for such a grueling contractual commitment. The 50-year-old 5'-10" superstar weighed approximately 125 pounds when he suffered a cardiac arrest and passed away last week.
The ideal weight for a 5'-10" man with a small frame is 144-154 lbs.
