Pop singer Rihanna was a stoic vision of beauty and humility in a California courtroom today. Rihanna, dressed elegantly in stated black with a string of pearls around her neck, listened to her ex-boyfriend Chris Brown plead guilty to the more serious charge against him — felony assault.
The woman beater was sentenced to complete just 180 days in a Virginia domestic violence program followed by 5 years on probation. Brown was also ordered to stay 50 yards (150 feet) away from Rihanna at all times except when they are both attending an industry event. Then the distance between them decreases to a mere 10 yards (30 feet).
Brown’s sentence, which amounted to a slap on the wrist, angered women’s groups. He didn’t get jail time, but his public image is forever tarnished by his immature behavior in the early morning hours of Feb. 8 when he beat, slapped and kicked Rihanna into submission.

Five years probation and a felony charge is more than a slap on the wrist. Most abusers get less (unless they’ve severely disabled their victims). TMZ’s got that boy covered for the next five years. He will be watched so hard that he can’t even jaywalk without being arrested. Oh well, such is his life …

I think she looks very Jackie O and quite gorgeous. Sandra this is the second time you have stated the sentence incorrectly. You keep leaving out the community service part which is substantial. Plus he can’t put his hands on another women for 5 years. Well I’m sure he could, but he would have to pay her dearly to keep her from reporting it and sending him to the pokey.

There are so many cases and peple I know who spent a night in jail for beating the S$it out of there girlfriends/wives. Why did anyone think a first time offender 19 yrs old would get time?

Call me crazy, but I think these two are still creeping aro0und. That is why they were both so distraught when the came down with the protection order. We will see what happens in August, if that part gets thrown out. I hate when celebrities get made examples out of. Give ALL people the same sentence, not just a celebrity. Working at a DV shelter, I have seen women scarred to look at you because they have been beaten to think that way and the abusers don’t even see the inside of the courtroom. Rhianna refuses to pursue it, but these prosecutors who want to make a name for themselves are blood hungry vultures. Stallworth KILLS a man in premeditated murder, because that is exactly what it is when you intentionally get in a car to drive knowing your tail is drunk. It amazes me, you can afford a Bentley, but not a driver? I digress. Hopefully when it is all said and done, they BOTH get the help the need to move on from this.
@Intense I still support Chris and Rihanna and I still say I DONT know what happened in that car and NEITHER do YOU or your CAPLOCKN! I for one never said he did not hit her. I said the media blew this whole thing out the proportin and tried t make him out to be the devil himself that was NOT right or FAIR IMO. She is NOT innocent in all of this either. Also if you heard Chris lawyer you would have heard him say that Chris wanted to take responsibilty for his actions that night from DAY one but he advised him against it.

I don’t know who thought he was going to jail for a first offense. Wasn’t me. It ended about how I thought it would except it took months longer than I thought it would.

@Love you aint crazy. I def. think they were still in contact even if only as friends and now the judge has shut that down for now. Both lawyers said they would work to get the order kicked in Aug. If she truly moved on 100% she could give a damn if he couldnt contact her for 5yrs. Her lawyer even said she didnt want it or feel it was necessary. Young love what can you say!..lol

I didn’t know they released police reports on this case. When was it reported that RiRi said she hit/was hitting him and that SHE had a history of violence? I guess I missed that memo. I thought it was WIDELY assumed he did by everyone who thought “good baby boy Chris” would NEVER snap off and whip azz for no reason.

On the Tom Joyner show this morning some dude was giving a commentary on the case and stated that Rihanna was visibly upset about what she felt was an excessive sentence regarding the 50 feet 5 year / 10 feet event stay away crap and will probably enter a request to have that part revisited! For those of you who feel this chick has moved on you’re crazy, IMO!! go head come at me I can take it! This chick is upset because she did not expect for it to get this far out of hand and for the judge to render this type of smack-down as far as them staying away from each other!

@Shauny even TMZ who is ANTI CHRIS to the 10th power covered that part of the report. They said those were also statements she gave police. Now again I was not there I do not know but TMZ is pretty reliable and they can’t stand Chris..lol E! also covered that part of the story regarding those statements. She said she slapped Chris in Europe and that he put her in the wall to calm her down. Per the report. Again dont know if its true or not.

@42 you right, what ever took place before that lead to the plea agreement is what matters and he looked out for her in the end… But again the higher one will prevail..
This was an excessive sentence. 5 years, 14,000 hours of community service, rehabilitation program. This is a lot for a first time offender. I have said it before and I will say it again….if RiRi was a darker skinned chick those pictures wouldn’t have gotten as much play as they had. She’s beige and she appeared to bruise easy. I think that they fight all the time and he had just had enough. I’m not saying what he did was right, but they were both children and didn’t know that it was just easier to walk away. I hope both of them get the help they need and move past this.
