4 Charged With Digging Up 100s Of Bodies To Resell Burial Plots
You think you’ve heard it all and then this news comes along. 4 Chicago, Illinois cemetery workers — including the manager — were arrested and charged with grave tampering. Wait, it gets worse.
Prosecutors on Thursday charged three gravediggers and a manager in an elaborate scheme in which hundreds of corpses were dug up at a historic black cemetery near Chicago and strewn in a weeded area or reburied with other bodies so that plots could be resold, authorities said.
As frantic relatives of the deceased descended on the Burr Oak Cemetery — the final resting place of lynching victim Emmett Till, blues singers Willie Dixon and Dinah Washington — investigators said it could be months before they fully understand what took place.
The Rev. Jesse Jackson, flanked by distraught family members, expressed the outrage he was feeling at the workers accused of tossing human remains into a remote area of a cemetery.
“In my judgment, there should be no bail for them, there should be really a special place in hell for these graveyard thieves who have done so much, hurt these families,” he said. READ MORE…

This is sick. It does make me wonder how they got away with this. If visiting and you see all these graves dug up wouldn’t that make you think what the heck is going on? I have never seen two burials going on at a cemetary at the same time.
See how negroes do. At lesat so far Emmitt Till’s grave has not been disturbed. I guess.
My uncle worked at the sister Cemetary (Cedar Park) for years and I think he dropped dime on these people when he got fired. This is sickening I know peopel with family members buried there and they are livid! This is a shame….
This again…didn’t this happen a few years back, and it was some black folks then too! That or they were supposed to bury the bodies but had them stored up in fridges at the mortuary or something.
As horrific as this is I’m more shocked at the Rev. Jessie Jackson talking so gully.

O.K I vowed to myself not to post for a minute but this is my exception. This is very close to my heart as my grandmother, great grandmother, and grandfather are all buried at Burr Oak. There are a lot more people I know buried there who aren’t relavtives but needless to say JUST SPEECHLESS when I heard this. I was over my mom house and she comes out yelling turn on the news, turn on the news and I see this. My mom and aunts (uncles could get violent so they can’t go, well hell my mom can too) have been trying to see if any of our relatives were distured but I haven’t spoke to them yet.
They were saying on the radio that they were digging up plots where people had been dead for like 80 to 100 years because they thought every relative would be dead and no one would notice. I don’t know how true this is but it’s a damn shame. If my Gen X family members go to Alsip it’s going to be some furniture moving if we see fresh dirt on ANY one of my people.

Shauny I am so sorry to hear that and I pray for the sake of these fools that your family that is buried there is still where they were placed, and only them. This is such a sensitive matter when you deal with people’s kinfolk and Lawd, I hear you when you say some furniture will be moved…let’s just hope that for the best.
Wiggy…I don’t remember where, but WHHHHERE (As Steve Harvey would say) in dee hayell do these people get off doing stuff like this? Is nothing sacred anymore? I might just opt for cremation!

It reminds me of the “snipers”. When I heard the story I looked at my kids and said “They’re not black. Boy did my jaw drop when I found out the were. A cirme is a crime and it’s said, but when I see the pics of the purps I breathe a sigh of relief everytime I see they are not black. It’s just human nature.

Back on topic: NEGROES let me down at times. Are we so “money hungry” that we would do anything for a buck? How do you unearth/dig up the dead? It’s bad enough that I can’t sleep doing the right thing, how the hell can you sleep at night doing something so “foul”. I pray that all who’s loved ones this happened to find peace and justice. I can’t think of the thought that this could happen to my mother, grandmother or little brother, who are all buried in my neighborhood cemetary. I no longer judge why some want their remains to be cremated. Our body is just a shell. Our spirit will always remain. But to do what they did is unexcuseable. You don’t disturb a body. Shame on them and I hope they suffer in jail and have a cell mate named Bubba or Bertha(sorry for anyone with the names I mentioned). LOL. A name is just a name, but Bubba and Bertha are going to get them. Sorry for my rant. I have the day off and I am on my 2nd cup of coffee. My little sis is getting married today. Caffeine is not my friend or is it? I am going to pour myself another cup. Have a nice day to the SR fam. I too have several family members buried at Burr Oaks…and I have to be candid and say this…
This does not surprise me…
If you EVER went to Burr Oaks and see how unkempt and disgusting the plots were…
If you EVER had to deal with the staff at Burr Oaks…you would know…
Unfortunately, for Blacks in the Chicagoland area…for decades….Burr Oaks was IT…I mean, there’s a gorgeous cemetary sitting right in the middle of the hood on 67th and Cottage Grove that Blacks couldn’t get into until recently…

How can Emmit Tills grave be undisturbed but his original casket isn’t with him???? That really confuses me. Did somebody dig him up years ago thinking they’d sale his casket or something.
So let me get this straight instead of taking the bodies to the crematorium they were just dumping them in a secluded part of the cemetary??? Dumb Asses!!! Who thinks its okay to just dump bodies randomly and think no one will ever go HEY WHAT ARE THESE CORPSES DOING HERE?? YOU GUYS GET BACK TO YOUR GRAVES!! @Anna I remember the shock I felt when they found out the snipers were black also. Black folks aren’t usually random like that. When we do **** it’s either for money or it’s personal. Our kids don’t have to shoot up the school cause they mad at one person they go over to Craig an dems house and handle business in a nice private drive by.
Hello All. Why black folks got to go and do such morbid stuff these days? (Back in the old days, blacks were kinda scared of f*u*c*k*i*n*g around with the dead and cemeteries.) I recently heard a story about how funeral homes would not lower the body into the ground until the family left the burial and then they’d exchange an expensive coffin for a cheaper one and the family would never know. Crooks come in all colors.
The lack of respect for the dead is baffling. This is sacrilegious.
