According to CNN, a $10,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest in the brutal murder of 61-year-old Pastor Carol Daniels.

The pastor’s son, Alvin Daniels, said Daniels often traveled alone about 50 miles from her home to Anadarko, Oklahoma many Sundays hoping someone would come in and worship with her at Christ Holy Sanctified Church. Her church had no congregation.

He said his mother was “very cautious” and she usually left the door open “in case people came in to worship.”

Police found Daniels’ body inside the church around noon this past Sunday.

Jessica Brown, a spokeswoman for the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, said the body was “staged” in an unnatural position by the murderer. Police say Daniels suffered multiple stab wounds with a sharp object.

District Attorney Bret Burns called the crime scene inside the church the worst he’s ever seen in his 17 years as a prosecutor. He described the scene as “horrific” but declined to elaborate on what he saw.

Police held a meeting with other pastors in the Anardarko area to urge them to have a security plan in place. So far police are being tightlipped about the case.

Authorities are reviewing surveillance tapes from businesses in the area around the church hoping to catch a glimpse of the killer. “The most they’ve gleaned from the tape so far is to give them a timeline of when she arrived,” Brown said.

The murder received national attention when Nancy Grace interviewed Alvin Daniels on her show yesterday. CLICK to watch the interview.
