Ciara recently voiced her opinion on colon cleansing regimens: “I attempted to do this cayenne pepper thing one time, [but] I could not get past the idea of drinking what that stuff looked like,” Ciara said in a recent interview with OK! magazine.
Normally I wouldn’t waste my time with a Ciara post (unless it’s for the purposes of clowning her), but I like the fact that she downplays these cleansing scams such as Master cleansers, Cayenne Pepper cleansers, and the once popular colon irrigations.
These are scams because colon cleansers are totally unnecessary (unless you’re being prepped for surgery) and colon cleansers can be dangerous to your health. Most colon cleansing scammers hook you with certain key words to get your money, like “detoxification” and “removing harmful toxins” when in reality the body does a great job of removing harmful toxins on its own — for free.
So-called colon cleansing regimens can lead to all sorts of medical problems like dehydration, perforation of the colon and serious infections. But some blacks will believe anything and are easily conned out of their hard earned money.
Which is why I’m glad that Ciara is speaking out against these scams. Instead of looking for the easy cure (and causing harm to yourself in the process) CiCi suggests eating right and exercising regularly.
“It’s all about what you eat,” she says. “I change my eating schedule by getting rid of bad carbs and replacing them with complex carbs, like brown rice and wheat toast, wheat pasta noodles. I’ll come down on my sauces. I make sure it’s more protein-driven. Like grilled chicken, steak and fish. I also like to do greens to get fiber — broccoli, string beans, salad and lettuce, to help cleanse your body. My diet basically consists of protein, greens, and complex carbs. I focus on trying to eat more clean. I do five or six meals when I’m eating healthy. And I drink tons of water.”
Pretty solid advice from the one time Superstar. By the way, if you are experiencing gastrointestinal problems (excess gas, bloating), it’s best to avoid wheat products entirely and try whole grain bread instead.

I agree with your comment Sandra, I am also trying to eat better myself since that is my one downfall. Ciara looks great in this pic!
I am really working on my health. After ending up in the hospital with an enlarged heart and high blood pressure, I knew it was time to get my ish together. I am currently on leave from my job due to stress and I am taking this opportunity to get myself together both mentally and physically.
That’s a nice picture of CiCi and I love that jacket.
I once got a colon cleaning because I kept hearing it helps you loose weight… that’s a lie. But it did amaze me to see all that junk get sucked out of me with that tube.
I’ve never understood why all these obese people would rather sign up for gallons of water to be pumped up their azzholes than just drop the damn burger and fries and walk to the corner store instead of driving.
It is funny how you don’t get very many comments when you post something substantive. But throw a post up about Sasha and Rhi Rhi and the comments come flying.
thats the prettiest picture ive seen of ciara here lately.
ive never tried any of those, why would anyone want to? betta take u some exlax
it depends on who u ask. i’ve done a colonics before and tried the master cleanse. none of these “remedies” should be your source of getting ur health together. i did the colonics and lost 7 lbs after about 5 visits..my goals was ten. would you find me getting hydrotherapy every week; hell no. lemonade diet was a no go after day 2. i refused to subject myself to that for ten days, again, to lose that 10 lbs. fast.
the colonics was pricier, but i got the results i wanted. SR, I agree u do get dehydrated from a colonics because it’s absorbing and using up so much of the water in your body. if you decide to do a colonics, drink plenty of water days before it, and definitely plenty of water after it. if you’re getting colonics treatments, spread them out days apart. ex do not plan to go mon, then back on tuesday. your body will not have enough water and will only “take in” the water the maching is pumping into you, never giving you a “release.” so if u go monday, go again thurs or later because you would have given yaself more than enough days to drink tons of water so that it is effective.
if you’re trying to lose a lot of weight, any of these programs will disappoint you.
i did the lemonade diet which is what she talking about with the cayenne pepper i did it for about 23 days i felt great after. after the first day it was a breeze
@point
thanks for the information, Im planning on getting a colonics next month.
Never did a colonic (ew) but did the master cleanse twice. Sandra there is nothing Black people are wasting money on for that - just water, lemons, maple syrup and cayanne pepper. It was not bad. Eating is very social and mental. You are NOT HUNGRY and only WANT food. I lost a lot of weight before my wedding first time, second time just did it with my husband. Strong will you can do anything. After you come off the cleanse you do not want any bad food… I still eat pretty good, veggies, fruit, no white sugar no white flour… I try and eat things that have 5 or less ingrediants or food my great grandmother would eat. ONLY bad thing I eat are Oreo but even those are reduced fat ones… My toddler son eats only organic foods…
@ brooklynisis, I concur with you 100%. The problem is that we live to eat instead of eating to live. I belive Elijah Muhammad said that we are digging our graves with our fork.
I plan on starting the master cleanse next week. Jesus said that some things only comes out (deliverance) through fasting and praying (Matthew 17: 21). In fact, Proverbs 23:2 states: And put a knife to thy throat, if thou be a man given to appetite. Gluttony is a sin, but you would not know it by looking around the church congregation. Selah.

Sandra, Why do you hate the color of your skin so bad?! I am sick of u criticizing black folk like u are not one of us.
i aint down wit NOTHIN gettin stuck up my azz to “cleanse” me. it all has to come out anywayz so just eat right! however, tyra’s show contacted me because im looking for a good detox so **shruggin shoulders** we’ll see. i told the producers i will try anything but NOT UP MY AZZ!!
Dang attymom if I wasn’t so greedy I wld do the cleanse with u lol I eat healthy 80/90% of time my weakness is bread fries n choc lol I don’t buy bread but whenever I eat out its on n popping that’s the southerner in me lol
@ Daisy, come on, you can give up meat and choc for 10 days.
I did the Master Cleanse twice before, once for 21 days. The 1st 3 days are the hardest but after that, it was easy cuz it’s a mental thing. I lost 15 lbs. the 1st time & 12 lbs. the 2nd time, but eventually gained it back. I did feel good tho afterwards. Now i just eat 5 meals/day & exercise & i have gotten the same results. CiCi is right, that’s the best way to go, i’ve lost 26 lbs. & am still losing.
