Kevin Liles Out At Warner Music Group?

The rumor mill has it that industry veteran Kevin Liles was fired from his position at Warner Music Group. Liles, who got his start interning at Def Jam, authored the book Make It Happen: The Hip-Hop Generation Guide to Success. He recently celebrated his engagement to Erika Jones.

From Hits Daily Double:

Sources are telling us veteran Urban music exec Kevin Liles has exited his post at Warner Music Group. We’ll let you know when we hear more details. Liles, a Lyor Cohen cohort since both were at IDJ, returned to the company just a few months ago, when he was put in charge of Warner’s growing portfolio of 360 deals, with an emphasis on monetizing those rights.

all good things come to an end. he’s another one on twitter with all those followers, but he’s following less than 5 (last time i saw); he and rev run. miss me with that.

music is going in a different direction so execs of yesteryear should all be looking for different positions. out with the old, in with the new, hence Dream being appointed an exec at a label.

There are young, hungrey college grads who would love to fill his shoes. I agree with Masonmom. The industry sucks right now and all the blame can not be placed on the artist. These exec’s have to green light this trash.

They need to wake up and see that music is not about a look. Its about a sound. And that is what’s missing IMO.

Again. Respect to Mario for his beautiful music.

I miss the Bad Boy Era.

You can blame Yo-Boi about ALOT of this mess…
I’ll let YOU NAME the artists he introduced to us during his reign AND Kanye was Dame’s hidden treasure

    Adding to @mason comment…
Competition is what makes an ERA-n-Genre truly outstanding
Think of the R&B groups & female groups & solo artists that were out at the SAME TIME as the groups that you already mentioned
    4.0 — UMYND — Jade — Brownstone — LeVert — Rude Boys
Jagged Edge — Shelia E — Kelly Price — Profyle
TLC — Elusion — Toni Braxton — ETC ETC ETC
