The ultimate narcissist — TV talk show host Oprah Winfrey, appears on every cover of her eponymous publication titled simply O: The Oprah Magazine. It is a magazine that, as the title suggests, is by, for, and about Oprah.
If you’re a regular reader, you know how I feel about self-indulgent narcissists like Oprah. But the October issue of O is something special. It’s a case study of what happens when one big narcissist meets head-on with another big narcissist. As you know, Oprah interviews Jay Z in that issue.

I must admit I did expect Oprah to put Jay Z on the cover of her magazine. I figured his oversized ego would demand it. But in fact, it took me some time to even find a reference to the Jay Z piece on the cover.
There it is, way down at the bottom right corner of the magazine, tucked under the subheading, “BEHOLD THE $30 BAG.”
Jay Z’s subheading is set in smaller typeface than the subheading above it — almost as an afterthought.
Oprah, who makes no bones about her contempt for rappers, queries the rap mogul on his drug dealing past, his marriage to wife Beyonce, on being shot at, and his continued use of the N word:
O: Do you believe that using the N word is necessary?
J: Nothing is necessary. It’s just become part of the way we communicate. My generation hasn’t had the same experience with that word that generations of people before us had. We weren’t so close to the pain. So in our way, we disarmed the word. We took the fire pin out of the grenade.

nice comment jay-z…so true
Get it OPRAH!
Dang Trey was looking good at his party last night!
Love the quote Jay…it really isn’t necessary
!!!
Great response from Jay! I’m sure Oprah didn’t expect that.
I don’t really see anything wrong with the cover, it’s just a play on words.
I thought he was going to be on the show.
& I don’t get the whole Dr. Oz show. Is he going to give Medical advice on air? That seems so boring..
Sandra there wasn’t a quote on what he said about marriage? That “quote” has been said by so many others about the N word. I’ve even said that before feel the same about racism.
But after a certain age I think the use of the word is useless.
That is very true!!! Damn Sandra narcissist…He’s an intelligent brother, making his money work for him, so I can’t knock it.

Well most of her readers really could give a damn about Jay Z. You do you think the midwestern white suburban woman gives a damn about Jay. No. But they damn sure do care about that $30 bag. What’s relevant to us isn’t relevant to the rest of America.
I am not a O fan. I get her magazines from my white boss’s wife. If anyone thought she would have J on her show “wow”. She just made up with her soccer moms because of the Obama situation. LOL.
I’m much more interested in the comments by SR Peeps than ANYTHING these two have to say (Real Talk)

I REST MY CASE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That has to be a back drop of Marcy Projects because i don”t see Oporah or Jay Z coming to the hood or rather Jay Z going back to the hood. The actual project i call New Jack city.
Jay z is a igorant monkey and its beneath queen oprah to even entertain him he’s lucky to have been in her precense let alone in her magazine
@east
I was waiting on you to post your comment, I agree 100%

the fact that any rapper is in her magazine is huge though. like she said she dont agree with his music but him as a person she loves
you just wont ever give Jay a break will you, Sandra =)
you will never see anybody else besides Oparah on the cover of her magazine. Love it!
Ellen will be on the cover of Oprah
Wasn’t Michelle Obama on the cover??
Hello All. I used to love and respect me some Oprah, a black woman my age and the first black billionaire in America! Then her audience got whiter and whiter and whiter and her so-called ’soccer moms’ took over. And instead of building that very elaborate girls school in S Africa, she could have invested in a clothing industry in America and put our children to work in her factories where young folks can design and make their own clothes. Hell, we all fashion plates or try to be, er body knows how black folks love to shine, love to show off their new, name-brand duds. So, instead of Ralph Lauren or Calvin Klein, you would find names like Kashika and Daywan on the labels and on the backs or sleeves of clothing. Instead of China making all our clothes, our young people would!!Hell, I gots plenty of ideas to put America back to work but they won’t give me a mike and podium. To bad I ain’t Jesse or Al. I’m just saying. Peace.
I meant to say I agree with elove comment #9
